Datamaran turned 10 years old this June. Our CEO and Co-Founder Marjella Lecourt-Alma has faced many storms navigating the Datamaran ship to get to #SmartESG. "When Marjella began to scout out for-profit opportunities, her more commercial mindset didn’t enjoy universal support. But her view at the time, she told me when we spoke recently, was that a new sector of the economy—and a new category of value creation—is “not real if people aren’t willing to pay money for it.” That, in turn, led people in the not-for-profit world to ask her: “Are you just in it for the money?”" 🤔 Spoiler alert: she wasn't. Read more to find out why being a pirate in the ESG ecosystem is a good thing! ☠ Thank you John Elkington for covering Datamaran's story, and to Datamaran's own ESG expert Jimmy Greer for your contributions!

Founder of eOceans® | Scientist | 30x30 | Sharks & Rays | Social Values | Watersheds | Tech4Good | Helping impact-driven teams move faster. For the ocean. For us.
I'm pretty excited and optimistic about this! We just launched the "Magic Upload" tool. Six years in the making, this tool allows someone to upload their existing datasets and have the data mapped and analyzed automatically, with a report generated. I truly hope that governments, scientists, NGOs, researchers, consultants, fisheries and more will use it to uncover what their data show, so that they can very quickly advocate for real, meaningful, smart decisions in the ocean and lakes. At eOceans®, our mission is to empower organizations, communities, and individuals to understand, protect, and restore our ocean ecosystems. "Magic Upload" is a significant leap forward in achieving this mission, democratizing data analysis and enabling users to extract meaningful insights quickly and effortlessly. Key features include: ✅ Insights Delivered Today ✅ Seamless Integration with the eOceans app ✅ Simplified Workflows ✅ Time-Cost Savings ✅ Smarter decisions and actions What would change if your data were brought to life today? #fisheries #MPAs #ocean #governance #lake #community

Happy #VeeamFindIt Friday everybody! Celebrating the 63rd #Veeam FindIt Puzzle today! See if you can FIND THE ANT AMONGST THE BUTTERFLIES. As always, make sure to comment when you find it! Have a great day! Did you know there is a smiliarity between Ants and #DataProtection? Ant colonies employ strategies such as storing food reserves and constructing underground tunnels to mitigate risks and ensure survival. Likewise, backing up your data involves planning for potential data loss scenarios, implementing backup strategies, and regularly updating backup copies to minimize the impact of data loss events. You may be backing up your data, but are you creating a strategy to accomodate the ever changing IT landscape? Image Credit: Gergely Dudás

Data Culture. Since neanderthal man took to counting hunters in and out of the caves (the cave count) data has been a part of culture. (This is probably not true, but you kind of think it makes sense so really hope it might be.) One of the questions we often get asked as #dataculture practitioners is ‘how do you build a data culture?’ The best advice I can give is ‘keep going’. They say ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ well, you know what. Rome is still being built. The architecture, the people, the new, the old and the yet to be - all intermingle to continuously develop and grow culture. What I can do is to look back on the last 18 months at LBG and how we have developed our data culture journey so far. Over the next few weeks I'll create a few posts to surface some of my major reflections so far and face into some of the big questions in this space I often get asked. Let me know in the comments any big ticket topics you'd like me to include! #buildwithculture #growwithpurpose #datatransformation Ranil Boteju Ron van Kemenade
