I started playing in a pickleball league this morning After playing recreationally for two years, it was time to take it up a notch. It was a blast, even though I lost more games than I won. But now, every Wednesday morning for two hours, I get to indulge in a passion of mine with people who love the game just like I do. Remember: your work will be there when you get back into the office, but your life can too easily slip by. Make sure your priorities are right. #pickleballislife #financialplanning #abbvie

Last night Matthew Hernandez, NMD and I played Pickleball for the first time. We were invited to play by some of our entrepreneur friends. I would not consider myself an athletic person. I work to be fit and healthy, but sports have never been my thing. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to learn Pickleball for a while, but I felt intimidated playing with people who know what they are doing. Turns out, I had a great time learning to play and can’t wait to go back. It was great exercise, while getting to enjoy time with great people. What more could I want? I learned a few things as well: 1. The story I tell myself about not being athletic sometimes makes me slow to try new things I might really enjoy. 2. I don’t have to be great at something to enjoy it. I think this is the key with getting more activity in, finding something you genuinely enjoy doing that gets you moving. Often this means trying something you’ve never done before. 3. Work to not take everything so seriously. Some things are just meant to be exercise and good fun. 4. Being “not good” at something is just challenging your brain and body to learn something new. Embrace it. I don’t plan on being sporty any time soon, but I do plan on hitting the Pickleball court again. #longevity #movementismedicine

One of the things that I love most about pickleball is meeting and partnering with people of many diverse backgrounds! Check out this video to learn why and how partnering with different people helps you to "up your game" on and off the pickleball court! Consider this: "Be Diverse: To what extent are you meeting as well as playing and working with people who are different from you?" 🤝 #diversity #pickleball #upyourgame Robert Chen

While I love playing pickleball (and pretty much any sport), I am not very good at bowling, cornhole, or bocce. For some reason, putting a weight in my dominant arm throws off my "swing" and I am not all that accurate. Because of my love of play and competition, I still participate in these games, even though I am not likely to "win". I say to myself, it's about the play and the socializing - not the victory. Do you still play games you aren't good at? Of course, I think pickleball is that place where you will always find someone to play with and you're guaranteed a good time. #pickleball #teambuilding #competition

Pickleball 101 Series: Video 3, The Kitchen Ever heard of the “kitchen” in pickleball? It’s the 7-foot zone on both sides of the net where you can’t hit the ball in the air (that’s called a volley) if you’re standing in it. Here’s why it matters: No Volleys in the Kitchen: You must stay out of the kitchen when hitting the ball before it bounces! Keeps the Game Fair: This rule stops players from just smashing balls down from the net. Strategy Over Power: It helps keep the game about skill and strategy, not just strength. How to Avoid a Kitchen Violation: Don’t Stand in the Kitchen: When hitting a volley, your feet should be behind the kitchen line. Wait for the Bounce: You can step into the kitchen to hit a ball that has bounced. Next time you play, remember the kitchen rule for a fair and fun game! #Pickleball #KitchenRule #PickleballTips #pickleballlife Have you made your teams yet?
