I am proud to announce that after a four-year journey, during which I worked inside and outside the legal tech vertical, I will be returning to Thomson Reuters, an industry-leading, purpose-driven company where transparency and integrity are at the core of its mission. In my new role, I will be working as a Senior Sales Executive with the HighQ team, covering the West region in the mid-law segment. I am super excited about the growth of the HighQ platform, an AI-powered comprehensive legal business management solution that helps law firms better serve their clients by improving collaboration, increasing productivity and streamlining projects. I am grateful for the opportunity to return to TR and look forward to building new relationships and making a difference in the lives of my customers. We, as sales professionals, should always be mindful of the fact that we can add value to people’s professional lives with the solutions we offer. Helping people is at the core of what we do, and we should never lose sight of the power of doing so. Our work is important. · Dedication to our work life is an essential ingredient to success, and being responsive to our clients must be a top priority. At the same time, we must be careful not to become lost in the pursuit of growing a company or driving revenue. Interested in going in-house but not quite sure what that looks like? There are three paths to consider when going in-house. 1️⃣ A specific type of law: think commercial counsel, privacy counsel or employment counsel for a business. Your day to day is specialized around that type of law. 2️⃣ Industry-specific: you have a strong understanding of the business and continue to stay in the industry, whether it be biotech, insurance or retail businesses. 3️⃣ Generalist: you don’t fall into a specific type of law or industry but you’re able to adapt. You fill the gaps. And that’s your selling point - you bring a fresh perspective to each new role. I fall under # 3. I’m not an expert but I’ll figure it out. And I’ll ask questions that maybe no one has considered since I’m new (to that role and/or industry). What am I missing? How did you find your path in-house?

After watching Office Space in 1999, I thought being a manager might be the worst job on Earth (no offense, Bill Lumbergh). You show up, drink coffee, and make sure everyone does things the way you would if you had their jobs. It turns out 21-year-old me was wrong about that—and, unsurprisingly, about a lot of other things too. Being a successful manager isn’t about forcing everyone into the same mold—or, as many lawyers tend to do, simply taking over the hard work themselves. It’s about tapping into each person’s unique strengths, helping them develop new ones, channeling those talents and passions toward a shared mission, and giving them the trust and freedom necessary to do their jobs. It’s a challenging role, but also incredibly rewarding. If you’re interested in helping an exceptional and diverse group of trial attorneys dedicated to seeking justice for American consumers thrive, this role might be for you.
