The Myth of Snow and Solar. The impact of snow on solar panels varies, like snowflakes themselves. A light dusting might act as a gentle diffuser, even enhancing performance in some cases. However, a heavy, wet snowfall paints a different picture. Imagine sunlight navigating a thick, opaque curtain –essentially, what happens when snow blankets a panel? It blocks precious sunlight from reaching the photovoltaic cells, leading to a significant drop in energy production. The thicker the snow, the deeper the efficiency plummet. If we subsidise wind and solar, we can incentivise positive changes in the weather. Tax breaks can encourage the sun to shine stronger and the wind to blow harder. It's basic politics. Or we could just arrest the sun and the wind for resisting government protocols.

One of the challenges in the residential renewable energy field is the limitation of harvesting renewable energy, be that solar or wind resources is the intermittent nature of the resources: one can only capture solar when the sun is visible, and wind when the wind is blowing.
