Few things scare me more than photographing a space I've never been to before – but maybe I'm exaggerating when I state this. Although I guess I should actually say that I can feel a little intimidated about photographing a place I don't know well. I do need to know how that space works and take some time to walk around it without my camera and looking at everything very carefully. This is a prior ritual that I like to do whenever I can and that helps me feel comfortable when I start to work with the camera. But, if that is not possible, I can also focus very quickly on a space to understand and photograph it. In this case, this is the new Loewe store in De Bijenkorf department store in #Amsterdam in which many elements of the elegant architecture developed by the firm are repeated – the colored tiles – and a new one is presented – the wooden structure that displays the products. That the shapes and colors of the tiles and the wooden structure work very well together was really evident and so was my composition of the frame in the camera viewfinder: and I must admit, I love when this happens because it makes looking at the space something completely natural. If architecture is so delicate and precise, the photograph that represents it must be too. #photography #architecture #architecturalphotography #retail #visualmerchandising Molly Ottaway Klara Zupančič Anaël Flores Gundars Petrovics
