The walkway that joins Union Station to the Go Transit terminal constantly changes appearance due to the amount of sunlight that shines through the glass ceiling. On this sunny day the bright sunlight adds design elements by creating patterns on the floor; on a cloudy day the lines are absent. Few things scare me more than photographing a space I've never been to before – but maybe I'm exaggerating when I state this. Although I guess I should actually say that I can feel a little intimidated about photographing a place I don't know well. I do need to know how that space works and take some time to walk around it without my camera and looking at everything very carefully. This is a prior ritual that I like to do whenever I can and that helps me feel comfortable when I start to work with the camera. But, if that is not possible, I can also focus very quickly on a space to understand and photograph it. In this case, this is the new Loewe store in De Bijenkorf department store in #Amsterdam in which many elements of the elegant architecture developed by the firm are repeated – the colored tiles – and a new one is presented – the wooden structure that displays the products. That the shapes and colors of the tiles and the wooden structure work very well together was really evident and so was my composition of the frame in the camera viewfinder: and I must admit, I love when this happens because it makes looking at the space something completely natural. If architecture is so delicate and precise, the photograph that represents it must be too. #photography #architecture #architecturalphotography #retail #visualmerchandising Molly Ottaway Klara Zupančič Anaël Flores Gundars Petrovics

Sky-Frame Friday. The reason why you do not know where you want to sit might just be the number of inviting spots. A cold drink, however, would suit everywhere, wouldn't it? The Black Canvas Alphabet. ◾️ K is for Knowledge. ◾️ One of our favourite quotes from a design lecturer during our studies is "The less you know, the less you have to design with." We aim to increase, not just our technical knowledge about Interior Architecture, but our knowledge about our surroundings as well, whether it directly relates to design or not. ◾️ #bc_newprojects #blackcanvas #bc_interiors #interiordesign #interiorarchitecture #design #alphabet #letters #typography #blackcanvasalphabet #knowledge

Minimalism with bite. White-on-white isn't bland, it's a canvas for texture. Marble countertops don't whisper luxury, they declare it. This bathroom doesn't try to impress; it simply does. Have I ever told you about how necessary it is to anticipate the sun and work quickly when you catch it on camera? This office tower is the headquarters of the information technology company Indra in the 22@ district of #Barcelona by b720 Fermin Vazquez Arquitectos It has a double façade that holds a second skin of stainless steel fabric panels as a filter that protects its interior glass façade from the sun and excessive light. That mesh envelope is ornamented with delicate and changing sphere-shaped prints intended to give the building a singular identity and highlight its corporate character. My intent was to summarize all these important informations in my photographs of the tower when I realized that those summer days the afternoon light was very clean and gave a beautiful and unusual golden tone to the steel facade. I got as close as I could to the building to make his upper body rise against the blue sky with a side light to reveal its volume and, above all, to carefully arrange the beautiful rythm of all the small spheres on its skin. As I could have foreseen, at the precise moment I made my photograph, the tower began to elevate, its concave spheres were illuminated and the convex ones did not cast almost any shadows. This achieved my desired effect of giving the building a sculptural dimension. But, what it's imortant about this? It is that precise light does not last more than 10 minutes because the sun does never stop its pace. The sun does not wait for any photographer. #photography #architecture #architecturalphotography
