🌿 Nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the Davines Group, driving us to pursue new heights of innovation. 🔬 Our R&I team is dedicated to exploring how plants respond to environmental stimuli and adapt to biotic and abiotic stress, resulting in the synthesis of new molecules, known as metabolites. We are fascinated by the myriad strategies evolution has rewarded in plants, enabling them to adapt to various climatic conditions and withstand attacks from different microorganisms. 🌱 Observing plants in their dynamic characteristics, we transform these metabolites into a valuable reservoir for researching new molecules that protect and enhance the beauty of both skin and hair. This allows us to develop innovative botanical extracts that effectively meet consumer needs. 🌍 Our researchers focus on plants from unique regions of the world that exhibit extraordinary behaviours, as well as well-known botanical species, to uncover new molecules and properties. By deeply studying plant resilience, we strive to create products that offer groundbreaking and highly effective care. #DavinesGroup #DavinesGroupRegeneration #DavinesGroupResearch #BCorp

Remember the plant tissue culture time-lapse we posted a while back? You loved it so much that we’ve done it again! This time, we didn’t stop at just the beginning—we have actually been filming this Mimosa Pudica since March 26! 🤯 👀 We captured the entire process, from the tiniest seed to the roots reaching out — all under the watchful care of our tissue culture vials. 🎞️ This journey took more than just a quick five days. Over several weeks, we observed and recorded this little one’s growth, marveling at the daily changes that aren’t quite so visible to the naked eye. The resilience and delicate strength of this plant’s life in fast motion is a story of nature’s quiet yet determined push for growth. 👉 📚 P.S. Curious about the intricacies of this process? Register for the next class: https://lnkd.in/e-9QTnYZ There’s a whole world of plant science to explore, and we’re here to guide you through it, one stunning time-lapse at a time. #TimeLapse #PlantTissueCulture #tissueculture #tissuecultureplants #tissueculturelab #tissuecultureclones #tissuecultured #planttissueculturelab #horticulture #micropropagation #plantmicropropagation #agriculture #invitro #propagation #biotechnology #clone #cultivation #plantpropagation #invitropropagation #cloning #inhousegenetics #invitroplants #planttimelapse

🌱 Expert Perspectives: SETIS™ Innovations in Plant Tissue Culture 🌱 Delighted to share insights from industry experts on the latest innovations in plant tissue culture by SETIS™. In a recent study published in Horticulturae, researchers reported remarkable advancements in the micropropagation of M. deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' using the SETIS™ bioreactor. The study revealed that this innovative approach led to higher multiplication rates and increased fresh/dry weight compared to traditional culture systems. What's particularly fascinating is how different immersion and aeration frequencies and durations in the SETIS™ bioreactors have a significant impact on plant growth parameters, such as height, weight, and chlorophyll content. Excitingly, this study suggests that commercial production could greatly benefit from utilizing SETIS™ bioreactors, offering space and labor efficiency while enhancing micropropagation yields. For those interested, you can read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/e3SucQfa Curious to learn more about SETIS™ at research? Visit our website https://lnkd.in/eSBdNxDT Let's continue to push the boundaries of innovation in plant tissue culture together! 🌿💡 [Reference: Jing Y., Beleski, D., Vendrame W., Micropropagation and Acclimatization of Monstera deliciosa Liebm. Innovation is the lifeblood of progress... I enjoyed reading Katherine Bourzac's article in #Nature (https://lnkd.in/eqXrmiZ8) about the recent launch of two new products, built with biotechnology and purpose: a glowing petunia by Light Bio and a purple tomato by Norfolk Healthy Produce. In Katherine's article, a simple yet profound statement struck me. When Karen Sarkisyan was asked about the risk of competition, he said: “The most positive way of dealing with it is to come up with new, better products.” This encapsulates for me the essence of competition and innovation. This philosophy drives us to explore beyond the conventional, pushing boundaries to create offerings that not only captivate but also add value to our lives. The glowing petunia, engineered to emit a soft, green light, and the nutrient-rich purple tomato are not just products; they are testaments to the power of scientific curiosity and the relentless pursuit of improvement. I had the opportunity to taste the delicious purple tomato at a SynBioBeta event at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. and was reminded that the path to differentiation and success often lies in offering something unique and beneficial. • Leverage biotechnology and nature to revolutionize everyday solutions. • Integration of science and design enables differentiation. • Relentless improvement begets extraordinary innovation. The path forward lies in the relentless pursuit of the extraordinary. I ordered both the petunia and the tomato seeds. #Innovation #Biotechnology #SustainableDesign #GlowingPetunia #PurpleTomato Nathan Pumplin Andy Bass

AI startup advisor 'force multiplier' whose superpower is connecting and illuminating the dots that matter faster, better, smarter leveraging deep relationship capital with personal brand to drive positive outcomes.
Glow-in-the-dark petunias are just the beginning https://lnkd.in/g4qRXUp2 After three decades of science, Light Bio figured out how to engineer a bioluminescent petunia. Next up: glowing roses, houseplants, and bouquets. If you’ve spent any time on the internet over the past few weeks, you’ve probably stumbled upon the glow-in-the-dark petunia that scientists genetically engineered to emit a continuous green glow. The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved the so-called firefly petunia in September 2023, and already it has become an internet sensation. More than 50,000 people preordered the plant, and first batches started shipping out last week. But if all goes according to plan for the company behind it—an Idaho-based startup called Light Bio—those petunias are only the beginning. Next up: more petunias, with different-colored flowers, stripes, and an even brighter glow. You can also expect glowing roses, glowing houseplants, glowing bouquets, and—maybe a few decades from now—flowers that light up at the touch of your finger. “We think that everything you see in Avatar, we could make,” says the company’s CEO, Keith Wood. The hope is that as early as next year Light Bio can offer petunias with different-colored flowers (the current version comes in white). Wood says they can also make petunias that glow in different colors, though every time the team changes a plant’s molecular biology, they will need USDA approval all over again. We might be many years away from the dazzling world of Avatar, but if the company’s success with the firefly petunia is any indication, the stigma that once surrounded genetically engineered plants may not be as insurmountable as it once seemed. All it took was a really cool, glow-in-the-dark plant.
