#growDXC If I were to ask a seasoned ‘manager’ how to reduce by 10%, they would be familiar with the levers and organizational buttons to push, and would get in with the job at hand with little further direction. However, what if the request was to grow by 10%? We take for granted that this is a job limited to one area of our businesses, (probably ‘Sales’), however, a colleague reminded me recently that a professional ‘help people to purchase’ person, needs the contact and context of what’s currently happening in the Delivery world with real customers to be able to listen, empathise and make suggestions about further value-add activities. So, ‘helping people to purchase’ (a much more inclusive, consultative, customer-oriented version of ‘sales’) is actually EVERYONE’s business, no matter where they are in the organization. And by everyone I don’t mean no-one. I mean YOU. So, what are the levers to pull and buttons to push? Try these four: Take a moment to think about growing your relationship with your internal or external customers. Think about this in terms of intimacy; are you taking time out to listen, really listen to them, regardless of where you are in the company. Take a moment to think about how you can grow yourself. How you can sharpen your own axe to be more creative, productive and able to spot patterns which may lead to great value for your customers. Think carefully about growing your solutions. Which buttons need to be pushed for innovation and quality to take center stage, to ensure solutions are evolving to meet tomorrow’s needs as well as today’s. Finally, think in detail about your team, department or business, about people. How can you collaborate more, communicate more, teach more, or write more lessons learned from ‘almosts’ and from ‘bright-spots’ so that you all learn what to do going forward and avoid reinventing the wheel. By focusing on the details of growth, we can begin to develop expertise in the levers, buttons and behaviors required to make it a reality today and tomorrow. #WeAreDXC
