🇰🇷 Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) is rumored to be eyeing an entry into Formula 1 by buying a team. To be completely clear as of the time of this post there are no F1 teams (publicly) for sale. Hyundai’s ambitions match FOM's love for established automakers and need for Asian influence as F1 wants Asian growth, as well as Incheon submitting interest in hosting a GP by 2026. (Korea hosted a GP from 2010 - 2013) Hyundai brought former Renault F1 team principal, Cyril Abiteboul, on board in 2023 to run the Hyundai Motorsport GmbH operations. This move could unlock a new partner and sponsor goldmine for F1. Currently there are ~25 sponsors that come from the Far East region but, Asia, with over 4.5 billion people, remains a massive untapped market for Formula 1. McLaren announced on Tuesday that Alpinestars is the new technical clothing partner in Formula 1, IndyCar, Formula E, Extreme E and F1 Academy. This is the reason why Sparco has not been on the McLaren partnership list 2024. When we look at the Aston Martin list Alpinestars is missing, so perhaps McLaren and Aston Martin switch the partnerships, Alpinestars moving to McLaren and Sparco goes to Aston Martin. Sparco announced a partnership with RedBull in October 2023, so Sparco is making some changes. That leaves Haas and McLaren with Alpinestars. Aston Martin is loosing Peroni to Ferrari, as Asahi Group has signed with Ferrari. That could bring Spanish Hijos de Rivera and Estrella Galicia to Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso. Taking into consideration McLaren has the largest partnership network the changes are minor.

How McLaren has offered a glimpse of its future with new F1 rear wing concept https://lnkd.in/eADZ5udW McLaren introduced a new rear wing at Formula 1’s Belgian Grand Prix that signals a shift in concept direction and moves it closer to what Red Bull is doing. The wing is not only the lowest downforce variant that the Woking-based squad has run on its MCL38 so far this year, but is believed to be the first of a new suite of options with this idea that will be rolled out for different track types as they appear on the calendar. We usually categorise the rear wings presented by teams into three simple categories: low, medium and high downforce variants. But inevitably, given the variety of the circuits on the calendar, there is a little more to it than that, with some adaptability baked into how each of those arrangements might be configured. Teams now are increasingly balancing out the downforce/drag of their rear wings with their beam wing solution too, as these can help fine-tune the car balance to hit the sweet spot. Furthermore, the chord length of the upper flap, whether there’s a Gurney flap applied to the trailing edge of the flap or not, plus the shape of the tip section and endplate cutout, are all means of modifying a given wing to suit specific demands (...).

💡 The Formula 1 season may have come to a close, but this is where commercial partnerships discussions are most important ahead of a new season. 🇮🇹 One big partner missing for the 2024 season will be that of Alfa Romeo. Sauber Group will now run under a new name for two seasons for the first time in 6 years, before AUDI AG enter as a works team in 2026. 🇨🇭 Alessandro Alunni Bravi has stated there will be no Audi name or branding for the time-being. So where does that leave Sauber commercially for the next 2 years? Bravi has stated that the team name is pending a foreign commercial partnership, so there is likely going to be a new major commercial player in town for 2024 and 2025. 🇩🇪 As for Audi entering in 2026, it is going to be fascinating to see how a major automotive manufacturer can break into the sport and look to compete against the likes of Alpine, Aston Martin F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren Racing and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team as OEM’s. 🔁 Perhaps a new team name and some fresh ideas will settle the ship after a disappointing season, scoring 16 points and finishing in the bottom 2 for the second time in 3 seasons. Top tier Legend - the McLaren F1! As we know, each F1 has some sort of story. Whether it is a racing history, an interesting ownership history or a build history. Chassis 022 is no exception either. It was originally ordered by Thomas Bscher in 1994. You may know the name, as Bscher piloted a F1 GTR to several wins, including winning the Global & European GT Championships. Oh, Bscher also went on to head Bugatti and was responsible for the introduction of the Veyron. As for the car itself, it started life finished in Genesis Dark Blue. It wasn't a garage queen either. Bscher frequently commuted with it, being said that he routinely surpassed 200mph on the Autobahn. He notoriously drove it hard. In 2003, it was sold to Miles Collier who sent it back to McLaren MSO (McLaren Customer Care back then) for a $300k restoration. The finish was changed to the green you see here, though it should be noted it doesn't technically have an official name. Sage, Metallic Green and Money Green have all been used to describe the color. It has metallic flakes in it that really give it a beautiful sheen in the sunlight. On the interior, it is trimmed in tan leather. Making this example a truly classic spec. In 2008, Collier founded the Revs Institute in Naples, Florida to display some of the finest cars in the world. Chassis 022 being one of them. Though, in this photo the car was out and about during the Amelia Island Concours. Almost all the Hypercars at the start can rely on Brembo or Ap Racing braking systems that combine performance close to that of F1 but are capable of lasting more than 24 hours.
