In an exciting development, it *seems* that Aer Lingus will announce a Dublin to Las Vegas service, with a 3pw operation believed to begin in October for W24. Sin City is Dublin Airport’s largest unserved destination *globally*, with approximately 65k roundtrip passengers last year. As usual, it would be timed to also capture UK traffic and more. It would join Minneapolis, which resumed on 29th April having last been served in 2020, and Denver, a brand-new market from the Irish capital that – funnily enough – begins the day I’m writing this post, 17th May. Dublin to Cleveland and Hartford started in 2023. Las Vegas, Denver, and Minneapolis were Dublin’s largest three unserved North American markets in 2023. Now Phoenix is number one, followed by Detroit and Raleigh Durham. All are pretty small on a non-stimulated P2P basis. While Aer Lingus could use the LR/XLR to Detroit, I’m not sure it’ll happen. If it does, expect Delta to also begin it – just like it did from Minneapolis. Perhaps Raleigh Durham might be an intriguing addition. Of course, where the XLR will be used will also depend on a route having high enough yields to offset the higher seat-mile costs of the machine. #aerlingus #ireland #aviation #airlines #usa
