Today as we are celebrating International Women's Day, lets not forget the inequality that still exists among the two genders. Woman is not a greater/ superior gender. The society has started glorifying the sacrifices made but not addressing the essence of this celebration. Let's start by saying - We women are still not equal, we are treated differently every other day. We need to address these issues as soon as possible: Gender Pay Gap, Underrepresentation in Leadership Roles, Gender-based Violence, Work-Life Balance, Discrimination and Stereotypes, Access to Education, Healthcare Disparities, Political Representation, Technology Gender Gap and Intersectionality. According to the World Economic Forum 2023 report Asia will get the Gender Pay parity by 2212 and Europe in 2090. https://lnkd.in/gp7Bux2m

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, ANYWAY! 🇺🇳 It’s been more than 40 years since the United Nations chose 8 March as the day to celebrate the power and efforts of women worldwide and, unfortunately, this celebration is still necessary today despite the progress that has been made in the past four decades. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2023 Global Gender Gap Index, no country has yet achieved full gender parity. The global gender gap score for all 146 countries included in the survey stands at 68.4% closed, an improvement of only 0.3 percentage points compared to 2022. At the current rate of progress, it will take 131 years to reach full parity! Some 162 years will be necessary to close the Political Empowerment gender gap, 169 years for the Economic Participation and Opportunity gender gap, and 16 years for the Educational Attainment gender gap. The time to close the Health and Survival gender gap remains undefined. Still a lot of work needs to be done to fully include women, keeping in mind that equality for women is progress for all.

Expanding Our View on Women's Health Women's health is more than just reproductive concerns. This broader scope includes unique diseases, conditions that disproportionately impact women, or those that present and are treated differently in women. Yet, #research and #funding dedicated to women's health remain insufficient, particularly in our region. This shortfall mirrors the broader societal challenges that women face, not only in healthcare but also in workplaces and homes. According to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2023, the Middle East and North Africa region has the lowest gender parity score, particularly in terms of #economic participation, #educational attainment, #health and survival, and #political empowerment, standing at only 62.6%. At the current pace, it will take 152 years to close these gaps. Full parity is out of reach for the next five generations⏰ This is what the newly released Gender Gap Report by the World Economic Forum says - and this is the data that should drive us all every single day to action, men and women together. Each generation is one generation too many, and this starts from mine. This year’s Gender Gap Index reveals that the global gender pay gap remains unchanged from last year, with women earning 68.5 cents on average for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. Globally, there is minimal meaningful progress, and at this rate, it’s projected to take 134 years to reach full parity, something none of the 146 countries analyzed have achieved. Increased collaboration between business and government is needed to accelerate progress on closing the gender pay gap — along with a paradigm shift in which equal pay is not just an aspiration but a non-negotiable. 

The World Economic Forum has released the Gender Gap Report 2024. Happy Women's Day! Today is a day to celebrate the advancements in closing the gender gaps (parity between women and men), but also to remember the compromise that all of us (women and men) have to create a better world with equal opportunities. Interesting to review the statistics issued by the World Economic Forum (Global Gender Gap Index): For example, Latin America and the Caribbean and North America will take 53 years and 95 years to attain full gender parity, respectively. Based on the analysis of 146 countries, globally, it will take 162 years to close the Political Empowerment gender gap, 169 years for the Economic Participation and Opportunity gender gap, 16 years for the educational gender gap, 16 years for the Educational Attainment gender gap.
