Wars always affect women the most. Yet, women are too often left out of leadership and positions to negotiate for peace. So, as war, conflict, and genocide continue, our drive to uplift women’s voices for peace remains steadfast. That’s why we released this documentary “Voices of Hope, Actions for Peace, Women Driving Peace & Justice” for Geneva Peace Week in 2023. Now, as we are reflecting on the current climate after this year's peace week, these voices are calling to us once again to bring the violence to an end. This documentary illustrates, through several interviews, the profound power of women's and young women’s leadership, resilience, and action in driving peace and pushing for justice. We urge you to listen to these women speaking from Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar, Iraq, Ukraine and Palestine. Hear their stories and amplify their voices. 🕊️ ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eF-RVBj8

The YWCA of Meru, in partnership with the #YW4A initiative, recently convened a critical #FEMSpaces Reflection Workshop to tackle the alarming rise in sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) cases. With reports showing significant increases in defilement, sexual violence, and child marriage, the need for action has never been clearer. Participants emphasized the need for operational safe houses and dedicated support funds for survivors, especially given the alarming statistics on GBV in the region. The workshop showcased the transformative impact of FEMSpaces, supporting young women in advocating for their rights and holding authorities accountable while calling on the Meru County Government to implement the #SGBV policy fully. Together, YW4A and our community can amplify voices and advocate for change. Let’s stand against GBV and support those affected! During the #RiseUp! Training with a room full of deaf young women, I took a pause to reflect and inferred how I was feeling at ease, I was not feeling like I didn't belong there, which I felt the first day of interaction with the community almost 2.5 years ago. Now, I was able to #communicate with my broken but evolved gestures and signs, I was able to read emotions from young women's experiences and I felt more involved. It's not like the space was not welcoming, but it's a '#journey towards familiarity and empathy' in being a part of a community. And with the diverse communities I have worked with across India, getting at this stage is what I aim to achieve. It's a pure joy to be able to #listen, #understand, interact and #sharekindness with the 'other'. I wish more people actively think, feel and act on these things, beyond the people of the social development sector. 1st photo 📸 credits: a Coda (child of deaf adult) whose mother was participating in the training. 2nd group photo: completed a 3 day of #RiseUp leadership and advocacy training with 50+ deaf young women in Bangalore. 📢 #SVRI2024 the World YWCA participant-driven event, the presentation of the Feminist Consultation Methodology and its adaptation in various countries sparked meaningful discussions. 💡 Funding, sustainability, and continuous improvement of this tool remain central as we work to ensure its relevance. Most importantly, young women at the grassroots are leading these processes, making it a truly authentic and transformative methodology. The interest and questions from participants reaffirm that this approach—which challenges traditional research methods—is one worth rolling out and expanding. We are excited to keep learning and adapting as we move forward! 💫 #ENDSGBV #youngwomentransform Faith to Action Network Equality Now KIT YWCA Kenya YWCA Palestine Christian Agency For Peace And Development Ibrahimia Media Center IMC Thabani S. Day 4 of YWCA's #WeekWithoutViolence2024 in collaboration with YWCA USA! Today, we’re addressing Financial Trauma and economic abuse's long-lasting impact. For many women, financial trauma leads to anxiety, chronic stress, and even PTSD, affecting their mental health and self-worth. 🚨 Did you know? According to the World Health Organization, women are nearly twice as likely as men to experience depression and anxiety, and financial abuse makes this worse. We must address the lasting psychological scars caused by financial abuse. 📢 Join us as we explore how we can break the cycle of financial trauma, offering solutions like legal recourse, building financial independence, and community support. Together, we can create pathways to healing and justice. 👉 Learn more about addressing financial trauma and support survivors with resources to rebuild their lives: https://cutt.ly/TeSAO13q #WeekWihtoutViolence #WWV24
