Breaking Barriers: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Leads the Way in Gender Equality "Without the emancipation of women, there can be no liberation of this land" - His Excellency V. Prabhakaran. Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is once again making history by championing gender equality in political power for the third consecutive time in the Indian mainland. With a resolute commitment to empowering women, NTK continues to pave the way towards a more inclusive and equitable society. For the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections, NTK has taken a groundbreaking step by fielding 20 women candidates, making it the first political party to allocate a remarkable 50% reservation for women. This bold move underscores NTK's unwavering dedication to ensuring equal opportunity and representation for women in the political arena. NTK firmly believes that gender equality is not just a goal but a fundamental principle that drives progress and prosperity. By providing women with meaningful opportunities to participate in decision-making processes, NTK not only fulfills the aspirations of half of our population but also contributes towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality (SDG 5). As NTK embarks on this transformative journey towards a more inclusive society, let us continue to support and advocate for initiatives that uplift and empower women in all spheres of life. Together, we can build a future where every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. The opposition Democratic Party (DP) is facing factional tensions over candidate nominations for the upcoming general elections, with accusations that the party is trying to sideline those not aligned with party leader Lee Jae-myung. Tensions escalated after non-seam members were found to belong to the lower 10 percent among DP lawmakers in terms of legislative performance, resulting in demerit points that affect their primary votes. This has led to claims of unfairness and favoritism towards the party leader's loyalists, with some lawmakers considering leaving the party. #AsiaOperations #PoliticsandElections #SouthKorea Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/gxn_R_Rf

Psephological Fact #2 Since Labour became a governing party in 1924 it has dropped below 30% of the vote in General Elections only twice - under Foot in 1983 (27.6%) and (curiously perhaps) under Brown in 2010 (29%) (but due to more effective vote distribution Lab in 2010 won 56 more seats than in 2019 even though in 2019 they polled 3% more of the vote). The Conservatives, by contrast, have only dropped below 30% of the vote once - in 1832 under Wellington when they received 29.2% (Major in 1997 got close with 30.7%). If the polls are anywhere close to being correct this "record" may well be broken in 2024...

Such a good and insightful analysis - who are going to be key #labour influencers and leaders in Westminster in future years in hopefully a two-term (at least!) govt. By one of the smartest, most thoughtful (and equally tough and kind) brilliant people I’ve ever met in the political world Fiona Stanton This is just so strategic in thinking; it’s not just the next 2-4 years of fiscal and public services recovery that matters, but the next ten years of renewal. And who will lead this.
With just under 48 hours to go until the formal close of candidate nominations for the General Election (4pm on Friday for those who are extra interested) conjecture abounds about last minute changes for the political parties. How many seats will Reform stand in? Will the Conservatives manage a candidate in every seat? Will there be any last-minute defections from Conservatives to Reform? Labour’s governing body – their National Executive Committee – met yesterday to endorse all candidates, including the 25 last minute selections. 56˚ North Partner and former senior Labour staffer Fiona Stanton has pulled out five that are young, likely to win and (in our opinion) likely to become prominent figures within a new-look Parliamentary Labour Party. Read all about them below 👇

The Form B or B-Form as it is most commonly known, is one of the most important forms that a candidate who plans to contest the elections needs to submit. Post the announcement of the elections by the Election Commission, every candidate needs to file a nomination form. This form needs to be filled by the party for the reserved symbol to be allotted. In the event of these steps not being followed, the candidate will be considered an independent. #india #generalelections #election2024 #politics #candidates

The implications of the Supreme Court Judgement on LG Autonomy: 1) No State with Caretaker Committees will receive allocation. 2) Section 7 and Section 162 of the constitution have been interpreted. So Section 162(6) of the constitution to be deleted by the National Assembly. 3) National Assembly to review/amend Section 197 to allow INEC conduct LG elections and delete 197(2). 4) State Governors no longer have strong grip on the LGA .

17 of 17. Umunneochi was the last I analyzed which had a subject matter expert, Ezechikamnayo Jubilee, who explicated the competitiveness of politics in Umunneochi, the zoning formula, the multi-party political history, the impact of the "obi-wave" etc. This local government had 14% voter turnout for the 2023 Abia Guber Elections. Same with Ukwa West. A little below average turnout(17.8%) also. LP reached about 4,908 votes and PDP comes next with about 2,476 votes and APC followed with about 1,619 votes. LP had about 47% of Umunneochi votes while PDP had about 24% of the votes. This indicates a strong interest in LP and but some room for PDP as they got a little more than half of LP Votes.
