Join the conversation! On April 3 at 10 a.m. PDT, the Flight Opportunities team will facilitate a discussion for researchers to engage with each other and share their experiences using cameras to gather data on a variety of flight test platforms. The discussion will encompass an overview of cameras used, environmental issues to consider in camera selection, and common pitfalls and lessons learned (e.g., securing memory cards, recording tips, best practices for lenses). What sorts of camera topics would you like to see covered during this session? Email us at NASA-FlightOpportunities@mail.nasa.gov. 📊 Better Contracting, Better Outcomes: Advancing Small Disadvantaged Business Participation at NASA Presented by National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Karla Smith Jackson, Assistant Administrator for Procurement at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, discusses NASA's ongoing efforts to increase participation by small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs) in its contracts. Jackson notes that NASA has already made significant progress, reaching 12% SDB participation in the previous fiscal year, and outlines the strategies the agency is using to close the remaining gap. Bravo, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. #DesignForAll #Accessibility #Inclusion #Progress "NASA’s many successful space missions and discoveries have resulted in the acquisition of thousands of images, movie clips and a variety of data in a range of scales. These resources have helped most of us to visualize, interpret and map distant planetary surfaces, leading to extraordinary discoveries. But, what about your colleague, friend or family member who is visually impaired or blind? How might these discoveries and observations be as powerful for them as it is for you? We ask questions like this all of the time so that people with disabilities can have the same experiences as people without, whether it is understanding what an asteroid or small body is, experiencing a lunar or solar eclipse, or using spectroscopy to determine the composition of a planet’s surface. For the last two decades we have been working with students, colleagues, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), teachers and parents to make earth and space science accessible for all." https://lnkd.in/gvdRqxeE

Space amongst all the different fields of interest, Goddard Space Flight Center amongst all the different work places, and LISA of all the modern collaborative projects are special. Perhaps more so since they all utilize the whole length and breadth of modern academic and industrial expertise. This week we are relishing the nectar of ultraprecision metrology through the incredible presentations at the #LISASymposiumDublin. The energy and optimism of achieving the adoption milestones is omnipresent. These milestones might have been deemed difficult if not impossible merely a decade ago (pre-LIGO and Lisa Pathfinder era) and it took the best of collective global ingenuity by the #LISACommunity to see the light across the tunnel. It's a remarkable achievement to have LISA adopted as a project by European Space Agency - ESA, with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration hopefully en route with its efforts in the last few months at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, as the team prepares for the SRR and KDP reviews. Here is wishing the #LISA Mission the best ahead from the #HumansOfLISA and the Technology Project Managers, Inc team at the Symposium. #GoLISA

Just over six years ago, NASA's Parker Solar Probe (PSP) embarked on its historic mission to "touch" the Sun, becoming the closest human-made object to the Sun ever. This Christmas Eve, it will make its closest approach yet. 🛰️☀️ https://lnkd.in/e5Zvi-FW PSP is a groundbreaking mission designed to unlock the mysteries of the Sun's corona and solar wind. The Johns Hopkins APL-built spacecraft can withstand heat and radiation like no other mission before it. Named after Dr. Eugene Parker, the scientist who first theorized the existence of the solar wind, PSP will orbit within four million miles of the Sun's surface to study the solar wind's formation directly. Today, COGR submitted a response to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s request for comments on the agency’s implementation of the proposed “common forms” for Biosketch and Current and Pending Support Disclosure Policy (NASA Document No: NASA-24-040; NASA Docket No: NASA-24-0003). Our letter expresses support for prompt and consistent implementation of the common forms by NASA and all federal agencies. We strongly recommended that NASA implement the common forms with no deviations from the NSTC approved forms. Utilizing the approved forms will ensure consistency and compliance. Included in our letter are specific comments on NASA’s proposed deviations from the common forms.
