Altruism vs Greed When altruism meets greed, a complex and often challenging dynamic emerges. Altruism, characterized by selfless concern for the well-being of others, drives many #PT, #OT, and #SLP to provide compassionate and effective #care to #residents. This mindset fosters a therapeutic environment where #patientcentered approaches and #ethical practices prevail. However, when greed infiltrates, it can compromise the #quality of care, prioritizing #profit over #patientsneeds. Financial incentives and cost-cutting measures lead to inadequate staffing, subpar treatment, and ethical dilemmas, ultimately undermining the altruistic goals of therapy. This clash between altruism and greed can create significant tension, impacting both the therapists’ morale and the residents’ #progress. 51% of #therapists surveyed report 90 or above as their #productivity requirement in #SNF/ #LTC Here's some perspective, that is 6 minutes or less every hour to collaborate with other disciplines, document, set up or clean up, get refusals, wait for patients to be available, design and plan to run a prescheduled, ridiculously required, nonpatient-centered group, contact doctors and families, locate necessary equipment and DME, go to the bathroom, etc.
