My journey into beauty was a fascinating one. Tell 12-year-old me that she would be a beauty entrepreneur, and she would have argued that she was going to be a licensed family doctor. Humorously, I'm still a "doctor" – for the skin, or better put, a skincare therapist. What started as a quest for a solution to my skin woes soon turned into a passion. Then it transformed from passion to profit. I remember my first batch of orange peel oil (don't cringe) many years ago. I used it on my hair and scalp, and it was effective. With better information now as a cosmetic chemist, I know it wasn't the best formulation. Yet, it was the beginning of my journey into what I do now. Figuratively speaking, I give beauty for ashes. As a beauty entrepreneur, I don't know which I enjoy more: researching beauty trends and formulations, creating products in my lab, or seeing the satisfaction from a client using my products. Over time, I have fallen in love with entrepreneurship and marketing. Put me in a room full of business owners, and I'll be so alive, learning, taking in ideas, and sharing wisdom. I've faced my share of resistance, from "you don't look it" to "you're dark-skinned, how am I sure your products work?" But those who dominate don't back down. As a business existing for over three years, it's safe to say, the only way to go is up!
