Building Brighter Futures: Project Vivek Vidya by Deepak Foundation Project Vivek Vidya, a flagship initiative of Deepak Foundation's education program, was born from a simple observation: a lack of quality educational materials hindering children's potential. Since its pilot in Roha, Maharashtra (2015), the project has transformed into a beacon of learning across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana Mobile Libraries: We bring the world of books to children's doorsteps, fostering a love for reading and sparking imagination. Engaging Activities: Storytelling sessions with fun activities go beyond literacy, nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional skills. Community-Based Approach: We collaborate with local communities, including training women as "Vivek Vidya Sathi" (education companions) to ensure project sustainability. The impact is undeniable, over 6500+ children benefitted in 2021-22, gaining essential skills for academic success and life beyond school. Positive community response from children, parents, and teachers fuels our expansion. Project Vivek Vidya aligns perfectly with the New Education Policy 2020. Join us in building a future where every child has the chance to thrive. #ProjectVivekVidya #BuildingBrighterFutures #DeepakFoundation #EducationForAll #MobileLibraries #CommunityEngagement #LiteracyMatters #EmpoweringCommunities #CriticalThinking #CreativeLearning #SocialEmotionalSkills #EducationCompanions #SustainableDevelopment #NewEducationPolicy #TransformingLives #ChildhoodEducation #ImaginationIgnited #ReadingCulture #EducationForFuture #InclusiveLearning

How does the physical environment of a school transform a child's learning experience? - Introducing Contextual BaLA: Building As a Learning Aid At Shiksharth, we are committed to creating positive childhood experiences for every child, even in the face of adversity. Our vision aligns perfectly with the concept of BaLA (Building as a Learning Aid), an old practice we are revitalizing with a fresh, contextual approach. In collaboration with Mantra4Change and the ST & SC Development Department Government of Odisha, we recently piloted this innovative method in the Rayagada district, using Saura Art as the design element. By integrating local cultural elements, we make learning more engaging and relatable. This approach not only improves literacy and numeracy outcomes but also fosters a sense of belonging and normalcy in schools. Contextual BaLA is not just about decorating schools; it transforms them into interactive learning environments that spark curiosity and creativity. Our pilot in Rayagada is just the beginning. We plan to replicate this model in five more districts, reaching 337 residential schools and incorporating Gond and Saura art to further enrich the learning experience. This exciting initiative has been featured in the Indian Express, highlighting its potential to revolutionize education in areas facing adversity. At Shiksharth, we believe that every child deserves a joyful and supportive learning environment. Have you tried or witnessed similar approaches in other schools? Let us know! #Education #ChildDevelopment #LearningSpaces #Shiksharth #BaLA #Odisha

▶️5 different states ▶️5 different schools ▶️5 unique approaches to education Here’re the 5 extraordinary schools transforming Indian education: 1. Loktak lake school in Manipur -This school is also known as India's first floating school. -It provides education to high school dropout students and children of fisherfolk who are unable to send their children to school. -This innovative approach succeeded in providing access to those left behind. 2. SECMOL in Ladakh -The Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement Of Ladakh (SECMOL) is both different and exceptional when compared to other conventional schools. -The school focuses more on practical knowledge and life values, alongwith the students freedom to make decisions on their own. 3. The platform school in Bihar -The platform school in Bihar is an example of such a school where the orphan children who are forced to work for their livelihood come to learn. -Apart from academics, the school also teaches life skills, such as medical aid, and provides counselling to the kids. 4. The yellow train school in Tamil Nadu -The school provides the students with the opportunity to spend time in the lap of nature as they learn about gardening and farming and allows them to practice skills such as pottery. -It aims to be one with nature and focuses more on the personal development of a child rather than focusing entirely on academics. 5. The smart school in Maharashtra -A school where all textbooks and notebooks have been replaced with tablets and computers. -Sandip Gund took the initiative and undertook the responsibility to turn this Zilla Parishad school into an innovative school. -Everything from submitting assignments to understanding concepts, the school utilizes the digital medium. These pioneering institutions remind us that schooling should adapt to students, not the other way around. When we make learning experiential, flexible and student-centric, every child's potential shines through. Which unique school approach resonated most with you? "Every child is a born scientist." This statement inspired me to develop a different perspective to look towards my students in Rajasthan state. During my stay in the village whenever I went to the field with my students, I could see a very sharp difference between these students in their school environment, and in their home/outer environment. It felt as if they lived two binary lives between school and home. In school, you could hardly see these students smile wider, move freely or talk their heart out. Whereas you will notice the different beings in them altogether in the outdoor space - Carefree, careless, moving freely, experiencing their agency to listen to their heart, do what they feel is the best! Ideally, the schools are supposed to be providing a conducive environment for effective learning and development in a fear-free environment. But unfortunately, none was true in case of these students for optimixing their learning scope and motivation. Their truest potential remain trapped and untapped! This should make us question the structures of schooling system. How can we assure students an agency to be their own selves in the school world, so that they do not have to fiddle between binary identities in their school and outdoor environments? As a school goer, I always experienced a disconnect between my school reality and the outdoor world. I always viewed it as two separate planes which are not meant to share any connections between them. What do you think are the ways we can bring transformational change in the nature of these educational structures? What are you already doing about it? Would love to hear your thoughts! #education #qualityeducation #schools

Shiksha Sambal- Bridging Gaps In Rural School Education. This story starts in a village in Rajasthan, India, where a girl named Geeta dreams of becoming a doctor or engineer. Like many rural villages, the schools there lacked qualified teachers, especially for subjects like science and math. This meant many students, not just Geeta, had to give up on their dreams of pursuing certain subjects in higher education. Just when hope seemed lost, a nearby business stepped in to help. They launched a program called "Shiksha Sambal," which means "Education Support" in Hindi. This program brought qualified teachers from outside the village to teach science, math, and English to students like Geeta. The government builds schools, but companies like the one that helped Geeta's village can play a big role in making sure those schools have everything they need to succeed. Together, the government and businesses can create a strong support system for students in rural communities. Shiksha Sambal doesn't just bring in teachers – it also provides other resources like summer camps, workshops, and even new classrooms and libraries. The results speak for themselves. Schools that participated in Shiksha Sambal saw a huge jump in their pass rates. In one school, the pass rate went from just 11% to a whopping 91%! This means that more students than ever before are graduating and getting ready to chase their dreams. This program shows how businesses and communities can work together to make a real difference in the lives of young people. #Community #Schools #Rural

📣 📣 How Physical Spaces and Ambience Contribute to Positive Childhood Experiences in Adversity 📣 📣 In a world where many children witness adversity, destruction, and pain, schools must prioritize creating positive, creative environments that foster happiness. Physical spaces in schools play a significant role in this endeavor. At Shiksharth, we champion the concept of Building as Learning Aid (BaLA), an innovative approach tried and tested in various schools nationwide. This model enhances learning outcomes and engagement by integrating the local context, allowing children to use their surroundings creatively and engagingly. After trying it in 5 schools in Sukma, we are excited to share our recent collaboration with the government of Odisha and Mantra4Change which will be replicated in 337 schools. This project leverages traditional Saura art and the local context to enrich literacy and numeracy outcomes. Our mission is to create child-friendly learning spaces, where contextual BaLA plays a crucial role. This pilot will be replicated in five districts, impacting 337 residential schools. Have you tried similar approaches in your schools? Let us know! #Education #ChildDevelopment #LearningSpaces #Shiksharth #BaLA #Odisha #SauraArt
