NASAMS is the world's best-selling short- and medium-range air defense system. With AMBITIONS for a "FULL-SPECTRUM" system, Norway wants to have the WORLD's BEST AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM. Today, the system can use three different missiles to shoot down threats such as drones, planes and helicopters at different distances, but not tactical ballistic missiles (TBM). Now they are also looking at new anti-drone systems, lasers and microwaves for very short distances. The mix of missiles makes it difficult for the opponent. NASAMS has proven to be highly effective in the Ukraine war. Norway and the USA have sent a number of systems to the country after Russia's invasion. Anduril has delivered its first prototype, called the "Ghost Shark," to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). This marks the beginning of a joint effort between the RAN, the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA), and the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG). The project is progressing faster than expected and remains within its budget, a rarity in defense contracts. This achievement is significant for the $140 million contract. The Ghost Shark, an extra-large autonomous undersea vehicle (XL-AUV), will undertake crucial missions for the RAN in the Pacific. Three of these vehicles will reach the RAN in three years. This versatile and adaptable capability can meet the Australian Defence Force's mission needs, enhancing Defence effectiveness. The Ghost Shark drone, unlike regular submarines, can be fully submerged during operation. Its essential systems and sensors are protected in pressurized "sanctuaries." This allows it to conduct new underwater tasks, both passive and active, without concern for human crew safety. Because of the program's secrecy, there's not much information available to the public. The Italian Ministry of Defence submitted for approval to both chambers of parliament documents related to the Leopard 2A8IT main battle tank procurement programme. Italy plans the acquisition of 272 heavy vehicles, of which only 132 will be the combat variant (Leopard 2A8IT main battle tanks), while the remainder will be support vehicles (technical support vehicles, engineer tanks, assault bridges). The total value of the programme is expected to reach EUR 8.2 billion. The project’s timeframe is estimated at approximately 14 years. The leader of the programme will be KNDS. However, Leopard 2A8IT tanks will be produced at the Leonardo facility in La Spezia, where an assembly line is already being established. The Leopard 2A8 procurement programme will pave the way for Italy’s participation in the Franco-German future combat vehicle programme, the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS). In 2021 FEB the ICDS published a study https://lnkd.in/dx7hNHeF where I had an opportunity to participate, about Russian possible developments and employments of military robotics. In the light of conclusions, the today's evolution of introducing robotics. incl. UGVs to the battlefield by Russian forces is not surprising but confirmative. Even though the use of UGVs in large extent is not yet there, the understanding of their benefit seeds the way for larger utilization.
