Transformation happens at the speed of TRUST Some questions I have this day, Juneteenth: For colonial plantation "owners" who perpetuated slavery this side Turtle Island, what did they finally trust in order to transform their habits, their minds...what does it take to have trust enough to change our hearts? What is it that the black community is building as far as trust is concerned as we celebrate Juneteenth? How is trust being built within their own community? How is it extending within the greater American community? And what can we all learn from it? How does your heart desire to transform based on this trust that is being built.... I see a pattern with my leadership coaching clients. Those that experience the most transformation develop trust in TWO main areas after they entrust their transformation to my accompaniment. Those areas are: 1. Trusting THEMSELVES to commit and show up for themselves 2. Trusting the MOST HIGH and a grander orchestration of their life's detes Where can you cultivate and develop trust right now? 💓there is a seat at our table, for everyone

One of the more bittersweet sentiments captured by Ovetta Sampson of what so many of us black design leaders have been feeling and experiencing. It’s not just about leaving. You can’t help but think of those still there, still enduring. I have such mixed opinions and feelings on this, especially as someone who spends a great deal of time mentoring young designers. I do believe we have a responsibility to show the realities (good and bad) of what it means to work and grow in this industry. However, I think more importantly we need to be examples of what else design can do and offer beyond the traditional avenues, because there is in fact so much more. Many of us are still here, myself included. Instead, we chose to pivot and explore the peripherals of what else design could be. Building new disciplines, communities, and career paths to show other possibilities can exist. Especially ones that can be more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable 🖤💜 #black #design #leader #future #careerdevelopment

They each had a clear analysis of what their organizations need for the future, as well as what it will take to support Black leadership in the community organizing field and strengthen Black-led power building infrastructure in this moment of backlash and retrenchment.
