🚀 A Tale of Two Barbershops: What's Happening to Work Ethic? 🚀 Last month, I swung by this cool old barbershop in Bathalagundu, Dindigul. It had this vibe, you know? Anyway, there were two barbers: a veteran and a newbie. The veteran was all about his job, even when the owner wasn't around. He got paid a cut of the day's earnings and was cool with it. But the newbie? Not so much. He wasn't happy with his pay and only wanted to do the easy stuff, like shaving. Fast forward to this month in Bengaluru. I hit up this hip, new barbershop. The owner was hands-on, but he had this young assistant. When I tried to talk to the assistant, he couldn't understand me! So, the owner had to step in to finish up my haircut. Turns out, the assistant wasn't into it and didn't care much about doing a good job. These experiences got me thinking: are younger folks today less interested in doing good work? Are they just after quick cash instead of building skills and making customers happy? Are there really not enough jobs, or are there just lots of young people not interested in working hard? What do you think about work ethic these days? 💭 #WorkEthic #JobMarket #Skills #YoungProfessionals

#Recruiters, a little unconventional, perhaps, but this is how I learned what makes a skilled sales professional. Who would have guessed that what I learned while working at the Guam Hilton would have shaped my understanding of sales? But if you think about it, it really isn't that odd. Sales is about building relationships. And what better way than daily interaction with guests from around the world. They were "buyers" after all. They bought a hotel room, food, beverages, souvenirs, and experiences. And all of us at the #guamhilton were sellers. In fact, I think I learned more about sales working at the hotel - first as front desk clerk and then as disco manager - than in many of the sales trainings I attended. That's because #sales is human-to-human. Recruiters, I've included interview questions at the end of the carousel that I've used to get a better understanding of how sales candidates treat these special relationships. Their answers often given insight into their skill level.

Are Warehouse and Hospitality Jobs in Demand Over White-Collar Roles? JobMarket #WhiteCollarJobs #WarehouseJobs #HospitalityJobs #CareerAdvice Understanding the Job Market: White-Collar vs. Blue-Collar White-collar jobs, which typically involve office settings and administrative work, have become increasingly competitive. This often leads to frustration when one doesn't receive call backs or faces rejections, even with relevant experience like Customer Service Representative (CSR) roles. ###Too "Old" at 65? Time to Try New Career Paths!### Since 65 apparently makes me obsolete in today’s job market, here’s my exciting new career wishlist: Driver: After driving growth for years, surely a car’s simpler than a company. Chef: I’ve been cooking up business strategies for decades—how hard can toast be? Cleaner: I’ve cleaned up corporate disasters, but I guess now I’ll stick to mops and brooms. Receptionist: I’ve run boardrooms, so answering phones should be a breeze, right? Dog Walker: I’ve led executive teams, so walking a few dogs should be… easier, I think? Apparently, my vast experience belongs in the past—anyone hiring for these super qualified roles? #stais #NewCareer #AgeIsJustANumber #StillGotIt #ExperienceMatters #JobSearch #LifeAt65 #HireMe
