When candidates seek jobs in the private sector, they often hear: To a candidate with a Master's degree: "You have an M.Sc., but you don't have NET." To a NET-qualified candidate: "You have NET, but you don't have a Ph.D." To a Ph.D. holder with all possible qualifications: "You have a Ph.D., but you don't have experience." To those with NET, Ph.D., and experience: "Yes, you have a Ph.D. and experience, but we haven't personally seen your skills, so we can't offer you the salary you expect." Even as a highly educated individual with a Ph.D., NET, and an excellent academic record, unemployment is a stark reality. Institutions expect students to pay high fees but are unwilling to offer deserving salaries to qualified educators. This is the harsh reality many educators are confronting today. #Education #AcademicChallenges #PhDEducation #HigherEducation #EmploymentIssues #Educators #ValueEducation

Should Early Careers Schemes remove A-levels from their entry requirements? In my opinion, yes, I’d go as far as saying 95% of what you learn in A-levels is not relevant in the workplace. 🏢 I can recite the quadratic formula, but never had to use it at work. 👨💼 It would’ve been better if I learnt how to use Excel, analyse data, prepare a PowerPoint presentation 💻 . None of this was taught in school. We should still have entry requirements; I wouldn’t want to see candidates with poor written and spoken English applying to law schemes. However, organisations can make changes to ensure they only consider relevant skills / qualifications. 📜 This will also make schemes accessible to applicants from a wider range of backgrounds. 👯 What do you think? #education #entryrequirements #graduates #apprentices #earlycareers #alevels

#Edge of Education: Why Education? To take or #give a job? Dr. Ashok Patel If any student studying in this school or college is asked why are you studying? So most students don't have a clear answer. Those who have it say that in the future they will get a daily wage by doing a #job as a teacher, doctor, engineer or something. Most of the college students will say to become an officer by giving UPSC or GPSC or other public exam. These students don't even realize that there are lakhs of candidates and hundreds of vacancies. Question? If you were going to advertise an entry level role in the NHS what do you think would be the priorities to say about why they would want to apply? Doing some work on the lunacy which is our recruitment particularly into entry roles. I’m sure asking for a minimum 12 months experience in a hospital will preclude a lot of applicants. Starting the advert with you will pay for your DBS and update service and this will be taken from your first months salary is not on the list of top 10 job adverts. I think we need help from our competitors 😄 We can offer so much including a career from entry up. Support with Maths and English. Training and so much more! Why do so many fail to advertise the opportunity an entry level role can lead to?
