COLD FOOD - BAD ATTITUDE
Food was delivered cold as the driver had other deliveries before they came to me. Food had to be reheated as it was too cold to eat (not always a great idea food poisoning etc). Complained to CEO of Deliveroo and they will NOT refund my money as they claim they were only 9 minutes late on their delivery! Food was cold what else can you say? Clearly reading all the bad reviews on here for this company they need my money to stay afloat! Take my advise and use other delivery companies as these clowns do not care what state or temperature your food arrives in so long as they deliver it and get their money!
McDonalds & Deliveroo numbers just do not work! Interesting, isn't it?
👉 What do you think?
👉 Deliveroo obviously has a scale but they have to invest lots of marketing money to maintain this partnership. Is it worth it?
👉 How does high number of McDonalds orders affect the customer service for other brands on Deliveroo platform?

Deliveroo PLC (LSE:ROO) has broadened its market proposition by expanding into retail and grocery deliveries, but in doing so could ‘dilute’ its profits, according to some analysts.
Deliveroo’s focus on adding new verticals grocery and retail to its platform, following its recent investor day, could dilute its gross margin, according to analysts at #ShoreCapital.
They said in a research note that customer fees and price integrity are top-of-mind for customers ordering through Deliveroo’s traditional restaurant stream, which represents approximately 80% of total order volume.
Analysts suggest that retail and grocery will act as a ‘further pull’ on investment at #Deliveroo, prolonging the runway for the group to improve its position on fees in the traditional food and drink vertical.

Big news in the delivery world: Deliveroo is expanding its horizons, venturing into the realm of non-food items. This move isn't just about business growth; it's a reflection of the evolving consumer landscape.
This trend is echoed on the Codec platform, where we’ve seen interest in home-delivery-related topics (food delivery, alcohol delivery, subscription services) rise by 22% across the board in 2023 - getting back toward their peak levels of 2020.
🛍️ As consumers seek more convenience and faster access to products, Deliveroo's expansion meets this demand head-on. This shift highlights a larger trend in consumer behaviour: the desire for instant gratification.
💡 For businesses, this signals a clear message. Adaptability and diversification are key in responding to dynamic consumer preferences. As Deliveroo blazes this trail, it sets a precedent for how companies can broaden their offerings to stay relevant.
🔍 What does this mean for the future of consumer spending and behaviour? One thing is certain – the lines between different retail sectors are blurring, and convenience is becoming the new currency of consumer engagement.

Your MVP is probably too big.
Which of these would you do if Deliveroo didn't exist and you wanted to test a new food-delivery service from scratch?
- spend £millions building a marketplace platform to track individual drivers and restaurants with huge menu systems and intricate ordering options, manage payments/refunds/deposits online, with a map/navigation solution built-in
- build a simple form where people can send their orders to you for local restaurants, stick a tablet in a local restaurant to send orders to, and deliver orders for them
Deliveroo's first delivery driver was the bloke who started the company.
❌ An MVP isn't "All the stuff that I want to build".
Your MVP is "The smallest thing I should build to learn whether my idea works".
To *really* get to the root of what your MVP should include, you should probably:
✅ Define, really well, the problem you want to solve (and make sure it actually needs solving)
✅ Work out your hypothesis for your solution
✅ Come up with the least amount of work you can to see if you can solve the problem
Go small, learn as much as you can.
𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 ⚡ Last week's Financial Times article 'Delivery Hero exits Deliveroo as takeaway demand wanes' https://lnkd.in/ehyRdJwB might not have told the whole story. Whilst the article states “consumer demand for takeaways has dwindled since the highs of a pandemic boom”, Fable's data on UK consumer spend instead suggests a healthy UK takeaway that has rebounded since August 2022.
As a category, aggregators such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat are defending their market share. However, Deliveroo has been ceding market share to Uber Eats and recent data calls into question whether Just Eat could be next.

📝 I am going to learn more about this Deliveroo initiative. Whilst it sounds immediately positive, it sends several alarm bells ⚠️ Boiling water is the extent of my cooking skills, and as you can imagine, I practically live off of Deliveroo deliveries.
⛑️As per my comment below I believe it important that companies, like Deliveroo, take full accountability for the quality of the service delivered by their people and NOT just pass on this responsibility to their stakeholders.
🏍️ Deliveroo: TRAIN your drivers to abide by the respect you are advocating. I am a big Deliveroo user and frankly, 70% of the time your drivers show no common courtesy, no customer service skills, and are grumpy or right out miserable. Could this be a reflection of your culture? A handful of times over the years I have used your service (since almost day 1), drivers couldn’t even be bothered to find my location themselves or follow delivery instructions to my door and decide to cancel or mark the order as cannot find. Some cut corners. Instead of delivering to my door, they ring in advance asking that I meet them downstairs or wherever they are near my location. Finally, language is a huge issue with many not having basic English conversational skills.
🫶Whilst I appreciate your ‘Respect Pledge’, take responsibility, Deliveroo, for properly training, paying, and valuing your drivers yourselves, so that they are better equipped to do their jobs and interact with customers. Don’t just pass the buck to your stakeholders. Lead. You potentially end up creating a bigger conflict between drivers, customers and your vendors with this initiative without you taking FULL ACCOUNTABILITY.

Today, Deliveroo introduced the ‘Respect Pledge’, a first-of-its-kind initiative within the industry, designed to foster positive relationships between riders and restaurant, grocery, and retail partners.
Already signed by over 40 of our partners within just a few days, the Respect Pledge outlines fundamental principles such as treating everyone with dignity, fostering transparent communication, ensuring riders’ access to necessary facilities, and working collaboratively towards operational excellence.
Thank you to all our partners who have joined the Respect Pledge, marking a significant step in our industry. We look forward to more partners joining us to enhance operational standards and promote mutual respect within the delivery ecosystem.
