Spotlight on: @tiana_hh from New Zealand! 🇳🇿 Tiana is participating in the Trainee program we offer, allowing her to be on @greenchimneys’s team in New York State for 18 months. Hear more about her experience below. 👇 💭: What did you study at home/what was your career? 🗣: Sport and Exercise Science. My career is in aquatics. 💭: What phase has been your favorite so far/what phase are you most looking forward to on your training plan? 🗣: I am most looking forward to the fall season where I can experience outdoor education. 💭: Favorite thing about being at camp year round? 🗣: I love watching the seasons change and being able to experience a completely environment to the summer. We get a lot of snowfall in Putnam County, NY and I’m looking forward to seeing it all! I also love having different groups of school / camp kids come through for outdoor education. When giving lessons it’s really cool to discuss our different cultures and share with them what it’s like in our home countries. 💭: What was the embassy interview process like to get your 18 month visa? 🗣: It was such a simple process, you’re given clear directions on what is required of you and as long as you know you’re training plan well and provide all the documentation it’ll go smooth. 💭: Favorite thing to do in the evenings weekend on your 18 month traineeship? 🗣: On the weekends my friends and I are adventure seekers, so we love to visit cities and townships nearby. Places close by that I’ll be [going to are] Catskills mountains, Philadelphia, Boston and Buffalo. 💭: What holiday are you most excited to experience while in the US during your 18 month traineeship and why? 🗣: I’m so excited to have Thanksgiving. We don’t have anything like it in NZL so to be with an American family when it’s cold out, having new types of food is going to such an experience.

Celebrating National Reconciliation Week, we honour the invaluable contributions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues, suppliers, and community partners. Their unique perspectives and experiences enrich our understanding, fortify our business, and drive us towards a brighter, shared future. In 2023, CIMIC Group companies procured $168.8 million worth of goods and services from Indigenous businesses which represents an increase of 34% on the previous year. This advance has been achieved by implementing our recently launched Aboriginal business data base and entering into agreements with over 550 Aboriginal suppliers, who have been assessed and are ready to be engaged by the Group as continuing opportunities arise. Supporting our initiatives are the long-term partnerships we have in place with: 🔹 CareerTrackers - supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by linking them with employers for paid, multi-year internships. CIMIC Group has supported CareerTrackers for more than 10 years and in 2023 provided 36 paid internships, with six interns transitioning into the CIMIC Group Graduate Program. 🔹 Clontarf Foundation – helps young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to attend school, finish Year 12 and enter employment. 🔹 Supply Nation – brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and procurement teams of Australia’s leading organisations to engage in business. #nrw2024 #nationalreconciliationweek Tagging our Group companies: CPB Contractors UGL Sedgman Pty Limited Pacific Partnerships EIC Activities Broad Construction Leighton Asia Thiess

Almost 30 years ago, Nana Violet was part of a group of Aboriginal leaders from Ieramugadu (Roebourne) who designed an innovative employment program. The program was not designed to generate workers for industry, it was designed to empower the people of Roebourne to pursue a pathway that THEY are passionate about. Not about doing what the world EXPECTS of them. A way for them to break the mould. They called it Warrgamugardi Yirdiyabura. Which loosely translates to “pathways for employment” This week Nana Violet’s granddaughter Dolly started her apprenticeship on the program, as she pursues her hospitality traineeship through NYFL. We keep getting asked by industry and government, why does this program work so well? It is 100% designed by Elders. The ONLY people who can design an effective pathway through social and economic change are those at the heart of it. That’s why it works. As Australia learns this week that closing the gap will fail if there without fundamental change, the answer is found is cultural owned and driven initiatives around the nation. This program is culturally safe. It is operated by the local community. It is guided by Elders. It is understanding. It is holistic. It navigates and embraces kinship systems. It understand complex avoidance relationships. It takes a trauma-informed approach. It is OWNED and driven by local mob. It measures success not by statistics but by observing social change and empowerment. Just watch Dolly’s growth… #socialimpact #westernaustralia

Throwback Thursday: Let's rewind to that memorable moment when two of our students were all set to embark on their Agricultural paid internship programs in Denmark. Pre-departure preparation is a crucial step in ensuring a smooth journey. Here's how we make it happen: 1. *Luggage Check*: We meticulously weigh our students' luggage, ensuring they don't carry any items that might cause inconvenience or trouble during immigration at the airport. 2. *Checked vs. Carry-On*: We double-check that items meant for checked baggage aren't mistakenly packed in their carry-on bags. 3. *Ticket Details*: Our students receive a thorough briefing on their tickets, boarding gates, and connecting train stations. We even account for time differences across various time zones. 4. *Foreign Exchange (Forex)*: Having some foreign currency on hand is essential. Our students carry small notes for purchasing coffee or other essentials upon arrival. 5. *Words of Wisdom*: Our Managing Director (MD) steps into the role of a caring parent, offering advice, counsel, and imparting valuable wisdom. 6. *Airport Drop-Off*: With excitement in the air, we drop them off at the airport, eagerly awaiting their messages to confirm their safe arrival. 7. *Eduserv's Peace of Mind*: Only when our students confirm they're comfortably settled at the host farm do we truly relax.
