Our Brisbane office had the pleasure of hosting the inaugural CIMIC Group Limited data science workshop—a dynamic forum focused on discussing digital transformation strategies, data science applications, and innovation projects across multiple companies. With 26 participants in attendance from CPB Contractors, Thiess, UGL, and Sedgman Pty Limited, the workshop was an opportunity to:  - Explore data-driven achievements. - Share real-world experiences and challenges. - Identify opportunities for collaboration across the CIMIC Group.  - Support graduate pathways by offering insights into diverse projects across our operating companies. We were delighted to be presented the prestigious 2023 Coalition for Eco Efficient Comminution (CEEC) Medal for Technical Research for a research paper our team contributed to at the Mill Operators Conference in Perth. Each year the CEEC Medal aims to celebrate and recognise the contribution that outstanding research and field work plays in improving energy-efficiency, water management, and emissions reductions globally. 🌫️ The paper “Can We Shift to A New Paradigm of Flexibility in Mining and Processing to Build Mines Powered Exclusively by The Variable Input of Renewables?” was developed based on collaborative efforts as part of the Think and Act Differently (TAD) cohort, with contributors from across the mining value chain. ⛏️ We are proud our team has been recognised and we continue to work in this space progressing innovative projects. At Sedgman, we are proud to use our experience of over 40 years in the resources industry to put Queensland at the forefront of energy storage in Australia.     Jared Armstead, Manager Business & Project Development, shares how Sedgman will be supporting Energy Storage Industries Asia Pacific (ESI) deliver Australia’s first grid-scale battery manufacturing plant in Maryborough, Queensland.    We are contributing our experience of delivering innovative minerals processing solutions to the global resources industry to optimise the design and implementation strategy to localise grid scale solutions for the ESI flow battery technology.    When fully operational by mid-2029, the plant will be delivering 400MW of energy storage annually – enough to power a new city the size of Toowoomba each year.
