If we take one thing seriously, it’s safety – and today is the perfect day to shine a light on it for the EMS profession. EMS Safety Day encourages first responders to prioritize safety for themselves, their patients, and the community. Let's focus on risk prevention and the advancement of safety measures. Take time to highlight stress reduction, self-care, and mental health awareness. Other program options may include situational awareness, roadway safety, maintenance, or violence awareness. What’s your biggest safety concern working in an ambulance or providing care on-scene? Share it with us. #EMSWeek2024 #EMSWeek #EMS #Paramedic #EMT #Ambulance

Community Case Manager / Aged and Disability / Endorsed Enrolled Nurse/ Home Care Packages / Commonwealth Home Support Program / NDIS
This is more common than people think. Hoarding and squalor is very dangerous for the elderly. 1. It increases the falls risk greatly 2. Emergency services can struggle to navigate through the mess in the event of an emergency 3. It is extremely unsanitary which can cause serious health concerns and poor nutrition 4. It is quite possibly a sign of dementia or Alzheimers in our loved ones. Hoarding is often a coping mechanism for someone who has experienced trauma or sadness in their life. Helping those in these situations is extremely important. We can do this by offering them choices, instead of making all the decisions for them. This also helps them maintain a sense of independence and control over their lives. #hoarding #squalor #elderlycare #agedcareaustralia #mentalhealthawareness #supportingseniors #mentalhealthmatters #dementiaawareness #alzheimersawareness #dementia #alzheimers
