Democracy International is excited to welcome Mahabbat Alymkulova to the team as a Senior Technical Fellow! Ms. Alymkulova joins us with 20 years of experience at USAID/Kyrgyz Republic, where she served as a Gender Advisor and Senior Project Management Specialist. She managed 22 USAID projects and focused on democracy and governance, strengthening civil society, and advancing human rights. She led the implementation of the 2023 USAID Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Policy and ADS 205 during her decade-long tenure as the Mission’s Gender Advisor. Ms. Alymkulova’s passion for human rights began before her role at USAID, where she worked with British NGO European Children’s Trust to promote the concept of foster care in the Kyrgyz Republic and supported the Netherlands Red Cross's humanitarian aid operations. She won the Global Swanee Hunt Award for advancing women's role in policy formulation in 2022 and holds a Master's degree from the American University of Central Asia.
