Are you planning to attract and hire women in computing-related internships? If so, check out how to support those women by reading this article by the National Association of Colleges and Employers for best practices. This article lists common barriers experienced by women in the field and some ways to mitigate those barriers. For our women and allies in computing fields at UW Bothell, I encourage you to join clubs like ACM-W and WiCyS to build community, share your experiences, get advice, and participate in events with alumni and industry professionals. https://lnkd.in/gGFy43wg

For Round 2 of the hiring process for my internship, I sent parts of a really bad research paper to the applicants and asked them to find as many errors as they could. There were errors of all types in that paper. - Grammatical - Structural - Methodological - Statistical - Interpretive It has been interesting to see the variety of responses I have gotten. The structure and grammar have been a major focus in most responses. Some have gone to the depth of methodological and statistical problems in the paper. Then there were some that couldn't find ANY error in the paper. We only know something is wrong when we know what the right thing is. A lot can be learned from mistakes - our own or those of others. This could be a fun way to teach research and stats to students. What do you think?

Political Strategist | Founder @NITI TANTRA | Research Coordinator @PPGF | GCM Country Leader (India)- MGCY | Public Speaker
Crossed 10,000 Followers I started writing on LinkedIn when it was seen as a platform for finding jobs and internships. During #COVID19, there used to be a healthy competition between our batchmates to do online courses and share the certificate on LinkedIn. Post COVID19, I switched my expertise from data science to public policy and political analysis. It’s been more than 2 years that I have been sharing my views on various policy research issues as well as politics. LinkedIn has helped me to hire interns for my think tank NITI TANTRA and even connect with industry experts. Cheers to this another achievement! #followers #linkedin #networking #policy #policyresearch #publicpolicy

UMD CS'25 | Upcoming SWE | Former SWE Intern @ Capital One | 2024 WayUp Top 100 Intern | LinkedIn 6x Top Voice | CodePath | Полиглот, владеющий 7 языками | The Tech Cadets Team | I help students land SWE roles
⚠️ Computer science students If you've already secured a summer 2024 internship, great! If you're still on the hunt, don't give up! Nevertheless, whether you'll be looking for more internship opportunities or new grads roles, here's one of my most important pieces of advice ⬇️ START BUILDING OR CONTINUING TO DEVELOP YOUR TECHNICAL SKILL SET For students looking for SWE internships specifically, this involves getting accustomed to LC-style questions that frequently show up in OAs and interviews. At first, I thought that my class projects were enough to land internships, but I was wrong. In fact, LC-style questions are designed in a way that even knowing the underlying concepts isn't enough to tackle them. You must spend time answering these types of questions! Over time, you'll recognize patterns in thi questions, which is the key! Thus, if you've already taken a data structures and algorithm course, if you haven't already, my best advice is to start practicing LC-style questions ASAP! Many summer 2025 internships will lieky open up this July and August, and that is the time you will likely be getting your first OAs of the recruitment process. Thus, don't procrastinate and start that LC and DSA journey now! ~Kevin
