I am a forest firefighter in my country (Spain, Europe). And I wouldn't mind being a forest firefighter for a while in the Sequoia National Park, I visited it last year 😍 and I would be proud to defend that land!!

And the number of our Volunteer fireman is decreasing, unfortunately. Three generations of our family served on the east coast from PA to South Carolina. Small town USA. It’s a sign of masgulinity! As a First Sergeant with our 144 manned Engineer company, we fought the fires of Alaska from 1977 to 1980. When they came off our US Army Chinook helicopters, I made sure they were fed before they went home. Every man counts as well as their families. My gift to their support, because we may need them tomorrow.
Proud to have given 23 years to the BLM Wildland Fire Program! 1988-2011! Sacrifice doesn’t even describe this lifestyle of work.
This was the most rewarding Job I have had in my life and it was a privilege to work with some of the toughest people I have been around.
Thank God for these guys. Tough job.
Good luck this season, be safe and thank you for your service!
