What's up everyone, Randy here and I got some good news. We just installed a new media engine into script and it's a whole lot faster and better for justice. About everything you want to do. You can use it now in the Descript web app, and if you haven't tried it yet, you should. When you do, you'll find that transcription is faster. So as project loading. And editing is more responsive so you can work faster. We've also got our new web recorder that uploads, wow, you're recording, so you're recordings are ready much faster for you to use. Playback is smoother and exports are eye blink fast. Like that, boom. Plus we also have instant AI effects coming very soon. That means stuff like studio sound and eye contact that used to take a while will alley to your entire file the moment you click. And that's not all. This is just the first in a series of improvements that we're going to make this year. And it's the future of editing and descript. I wanna give you a behind the scenes look at how we did it because we're pretty confident that this new web version of the script is the most powerful web editor ever built. So how do we build it? I don't know. So I'm going to bring on my coworker Marcello to tell us more about how we did this. Hey Marcelo. Hey, Randy. So tell us what makes the new descript perform so well and so fast. It's not anyone thing we. Rebuilt the whole media engine from the ground up. The key difference you'll notice is we don't download anything. It all streams from the cloud. OK I kind of understand, but haven't you guys been working on this for several years? Why was it so hard? Video is really hard. You have to process a lot of data in real time. To build a professional video editor you need a powerful and precise media engine. What does that mean? We built 3 new systems to make this work well before we had to jump through hoops to bridge native C. Ffmpeg code with our web stack. Now we can directly decode our textures into our Webgl based compositing engine. We previously had to limit ourselves to 720P playback, but now with web codecs we can stream 4K content just like you. Biocompatibility. Everything you can spin up. And so the good news is now we're bringing all of this to the desktop app. Wait, hold on. Did you say that Media Engine thing is going into the desktop app? Yeah, we're calling it Desktop Review, and you can try it now. So the desktop app will be as fast as web is now? Yeah. And be able to handle massive projects without taking forever to load? Yeah. No lagging playback. Yeah. Whoa. That's fantastic. Yeah. And you won't have to download a new update every week. So no more restart the script. Ah. Ah, not as often. Awesome. So when will this all be available? It's in preview, so you can start using it now. Hold on. You mean to tell me that we can use the desktop app with the new engine right now? That's right. Just go download the preview app and have at it. It'll replace the old app in the coming months.
