Good article, which can help us understand the late stage of "enshittification" of those platforms out there, and of course, here: LinkedIn's evolution, as described by the author Cory Doctorow.
Yep, because it is clear that LinkedIn is not even a job platform anymore (do you really still believe you can find a genuine, decent job here?). No way, bro, this platform has been degraded significantly, prioritizing profit over the genuine professional opportunities that once defined its value.
Don't believe me? And how do you call then this majority of BS, ahem, problematic job listings, reflecting a disregard for the user experience and a focus on monetization strategies? Learn, bro, learn what you're expected to encounter:
- Fake Jobs
Entirely fictitious positions to gather information or mislead.
- Zombie Jobs
Outdated listings that are still posted.
- Ghost Jobs
Non-existent roles advertised to mislead or gather data.
- Scam Jobs
Designed to defraud job seekers, often asking for money.
- Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Jobs
Disguised as employment but require payment to join and focus on recruiting others.
- Low-Quality or Exploitative
JobsOffer poor pay or working conditions, taking advantage of job seekers.
- Clickbait Jobs
Use misleading titles to attract attention, differing significantly from the actual job.
- Data Harvesting Jobs
Aim to collect personal information under the guise of recruitment.
- Duplicate Jobs
The same position posted multiple times, cluttering search results.
- Bait-and-Switch Jobs
Advertise one position but offer a different, often less desirable, one upon application.
Etc etc all except genuine decent jobs. Welcome to the late phase of enshittification.
'Last year, I coined the term to describe the way that platforms decay. That obscene little word really hit the zeitgeist.'
‘Enshittification’ is coming for absolutely everything
