India is making strides in #innovation, and it's exciting to see the #progress on #GlobalInnovationIndex! As we celebrate Make in India, our ranking in the Global Innovation Index (#GII) has improved significantly. 🔵 India has witnessed a remarkable improvement in its Global Innovation Index (GII) ranking over the past decade, climbing from 74th in 2014 to an impressive 39th among 133 economies in the GII 2024 report, announced on September 26, 2024. This leap of 35 places signifies a substantial growth of 47.3% in India's innovation standing. The progress reflects India's concerted efforts in fostering innovation across multiple sectors, emphasizing #research, #development, and #entrepreneurship. From being a lower-middle-ranking country a decade ago, India is now a global leader in innovation, demonstrating a sharp trajectory in its capacity to drive technological and societal advancements. This progress is a testament to the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the dynamic leadership of Minister Piyush Goyal ji. Their efforts to create a knowledge-based economy are paying off. India's digital transformation is underway, with initiatives like UPI, Digital India, Aadhaar, and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) The Way Forward: As we continue on this journey, it's essential to focus on four fundamentals: 🟧 Technology-Driven Growth: Leveraging technologies like AI, Ml, Quantum , Cyber Physical Systems , blockchain, and IoT to drive innovation and economic growth 🟧 Skill Development: Developing cutting-edge skills in emerging technologies to meet the growing demand for tech talent 🟧 IP-Driven Innovation: Encouraging innovation through robust intellectual property rights and protection. Pendencies on patent application before the patent office came down by 59%. 2023, alone saw more than 1Lakh patent application granted in India. but still much more need to be done on quality and commercialization. 🟧 Startups in Deeptech: India with 1.48Lakh+ startups is among one of 2nd largest startup ecosystem. time for India to focus more on deeptech and tech startups where we are still having less than approax 3600 and 25000 startups respectively.
