This week some incredible tools and features were released and teased by Figma and Anthropic. Figma is streamlining design processes and finding ways to empower designers to take away some of the tedium of managing design files and brainstorming new designs. Claude released Sonnet 3.5, an amazing new AI model, and Claude Artifacts which enable a faster feedback mechanism for creating AI prototypes for web applications. Something truly innovative with the ability to empower entire organizations to re-imagine what's possible. These tools offer up a lot of interesting questions about how teams are organized to undergo creative work creating new software. The tools also seem to compete to define a new workflow around AI tooling as their approaches differ greatly. In today's video, I discuss how AI can work with you in these tools and how you might find an unexpectedly cross-collaborative space for designers, product leaders, and technologists to quickly get ideas into working software using AI. I'm impressed and inspired by what I'm seeing and I think it's going to create some incredible new roles on our teams as we start to leverage this amazing technology. Tune in to explore how AI is reshaping creativity in software development on Stable Discussion! #aidesign #aitools #aiproduct #aidevelopment https://lnkd.in/gr2Yvj7x

"There's a saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, but that’s not always the case, especially when it leads to a sudden change in direction after a major announcement. This is exactly what happened with Figma’s AI. It's been a humbling experience for this industry leader. Implementing AI in a design tool is complex, particularly when the training data consists of the work from designers who use the software and co-opting everyone else’s application designs. This situation underscores the need to thoughtfully assess the implications and potential impacts of new technologies on users and the entire design community. #Figma #design #tech #AI

I had an inspiring evening at the 'AI for Designers' meetup hosted by Jackson Beaman. Thanks for rallying around the design and tech community to explore conversations on the intersection of AI and design! 🤖 The panelists included Shantanu Roy (Quasi), Vedi C. (Facet.ai), and Grace Ling ✨ (DesignBuddies). Their demos on integrating AI into the design process for creativity and efficiency were eye-opening and insightful. 🔥 Shantanu shared some game-changing tools in his workflow, including a customizable vector generator Figma plug-in by Magician. It's a real-time saver for designers, cutting down on icon hunting. For coders, there's SwiftGBT (find it in ChatGBT's explore tab) - a tool useful for coding efficiency. 🌐 Vedi introduced us to Facet.ai, a creative customizable image generator perfect for team collaborations. I was amazed at how granular you could get into the layers with the variations feature and directing the overall style generation. From creating mood moods, style sheets, and images for high-fidelity mock-ups, it's well worth exploring. 🐰 Design Buddie founder Grace Ling brought her unique flair to the event, showing how AI can elevate personal branding. Her demo using Adobe Expess' Firefly with her bunny mascot got our brains into the creative flow! 👀 Takeaways from community conversations: It is great to see how personal style can work in synergy with innovative tools. I discovered Magician's 'Rename' plug-in for Figma, which is helpful for designers to organize and name their layers in prototypes. It's still a work in progress, but I'm curious if it'll be demo'ed at Config this year. ✨ The future of UX Design with AI looks bright, and I can't wait to experiment with these tools. What are your thoughts on using AI in design? Do you have any tools that are part of your workflow? #aidesign #techenthusiasts #DesignBuddies #AIforDesign #uxdesign #creativetech #designinnovation #figmadesign #figmaplugins #techmeetup #digitaldesign #designthinking #userexperience #generativeaitools

🔍 Questioning Figma's Latest AI Integration Update 🔍 Today, you might have received an email like the one at the end of this post from Figma outlining their AI integration in their applications. I haven't yet explored all the recent updates myself. This trend isn't unique; many companies are leveraging AI to enhance their offerings. While this advancement seems promising, there are significant updates in their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that caught my attention: • Figma can utilize your team’s content to improve AI features when "content training" is active. • They clarify that users retain rights to their content inputted into Figma AI and any resulting outputs. Here are some key questions that come to mind: • Does "content training" default to 'on', requiring users to opt out? • How will Figma ensure that my rights to both team and individual content are safeguarded, including derivatives? Accessing product user content is crucial for refining Figma’s AI models which inevitably reshape the role of designers but at what cost? This prompts deeper reflections on how AI, devoid of human empathy and creativity, might influence and impact our discipline and roles. Navigating change can be hard and as the world continues to pivot to AI we already see its impact. That impact grows exponentially each day so I'm eager to hear and discuss the implications with you. Let's engage in a meaningful dialogue about the evolving intersection of AI and design. Chime in! #AI #Design #Privacy #Ethics #Figma
