We are deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Barbara Vitali, longtime manager of the beloved trio Il Volo, and our key point of contact throughout all the nearly 15 years that Detroit PBS has produced Il Volo's passionate musical performances for PBS on both sides of the Atlantic. Our hearts go out to Barbara's family, friends and colleagues - and to the members of Il Volo. Barbara was a wonderful person and a fierce advocate for the group, and she will be greatly missed by many. (Photo courtesy of la Repubblica)
The Imagination Collaborative: To create a legacy of human connection through epic experiences that transcend expectations, blending creativity and cutting-edge technology | 35 Years In Live Events
The Sydney Opera House just missed a golden opportunity.
They recently launched a new seat view feature, but instead of using cutting-edge technology, they relied on outdated methods.
Imagine this:
Instead of taking thousands of photos, they could have used a digital twin of the venue. This would not only save time but also opened up exciting possibilities for their clients and customers:
- Set design optimisation: Visualise seats with set pieces in place to ensure perfect sightlines.
- Pre-programming capabilities: Program lighting, AV, pyrotechnics, and show control systems before even stepping foot in the venue.
- 3D audio analysis: Analyse sound patterns in a fully immersive 3D environment.
- Augmented Reality: Imagine seeing Dame Jone Sutherland performing on the Opera Theatre stage or seeing the Sydney Theatre companies set in place before it is even constructed.
- Virtual Reality: Create virtual tours of the Sydney Opera House for those people not lucky enough to be able to visit in real life.
The Opera House could have taken their service offering to the next level. Instead, they chose the path of least resistance.
Let’s hope they embrace innovation next time.

We pushed View From Seat live earlier this week, meaning you can make a more informed decision about your seat when booking your next show at the Opera House.

A big thanks to our team of Krystal Nolan, Colin Taylor, Luke Micó, Ben Grace, Paayal Dharmani, JK Power and Matt Osborn, all who played a key part in the project.

Every theatre needs to get behind this campaign: ‘theatre for every child’. If literacy, oracy and empathy become educational priorities, then theatre, drama and performance will be ideally placed to support the recovery of the generation most affected by Covid and the narrowing of the curriculum. Regional mid-scale presenting venues should not leave the campaigning to the subsidised producing venues with learning teams. Some of the most innovative, creative and successful mid-scale touring work is created for young people. Help electoral candidates to better understand the value of venues that can host quality touring productions (that often come with opportunities for participation) by sharing this campaign with them.
