Ensuring the safety of our factory workers is one of the pillars of our business strategy. On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we want to highlight our efforts in protecting our factory workers through Vikram Singh’s experience. Vikram is a Shift Engineer at our Nagda plant. He shares:     “Grasim Pulp & Fibre incorporates safety within the factory through comprehensive policies. Before starting work, we pray to God and take an oath of safety as a team. This practice mentally prepares us for the tasks ahead, instilling a mindset that places safety at the forefront of all our endeavors. Next, we diligently follow a checklist of dos and don'ts, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.   We are encouraged to conduct a thorough Job Safety Analysis to determine hazards and devise effective preventive measures. We are empowered to take adequate breaks for rest and support each other in following safety guidelines.    Our facility has established general safety regulations and life-saving protocols, complemented by a robust work permit system to maximize safety. Before assigning any work, it is standard to conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT) and TAKE-2 #safetyprotocols. TBT is a group discussion based on the PRISE model where we collectively review planned daily tasks. During TAKE-2, we discuss the assigned job for at least two minutes before starting it.    At Grasim, safety is not a one-time effort but a continuous commitment. For Grasim Pulp & Fibre, occupational health and #safety isn’t merely a buzzword. It is a key theme powering our business processes. Worker safety training and safe workplace policies are in place to ensure our factory workers are aware and follow all protocols to be safe. Kamlesh Agrawal, Senior Technician, offers his views on working in Grasim’s factory on the occasion of World Day of Safety and Health at Work 2024. “I work at Grasim Pulp & Fibre’s Nagda plant and we follow several steps to preserve our personal protection. Before we begin the day’s job, we carefully study the Permit-to-Work system and Job Safety Analysis. It helps us understand the scope of work, associated risks and safety frameworks to abide by for maximum security. In addition to this, we have a feedback and review system. We keep an eye on the safety policies and gauge their effectiveness. Based on our findings, we inform the safety department of even minor incidents occurring within the premises. They review our guidelines extensively to prevent these incidents, however minor, from recurring. We’ve recently enforced a policy for new employees which requires them to undergo safety training. They are appointed to the field only after they complete and pass the training. This policy not only equips new workers with confidence — it cultivates a sense of alertness in them before they begin their job in earnest.” #Grasim #WorldDayOfSafetyAndHealthAtWork #safetyatworkday #employeetestimonial
