📈 The ETF Market Report Q1/2024 is out, providing you with all the insightful facts & figures about the ETF segment of SIX Swiss Exchange: https://six.swiss/3W3mJPm 📊 After last year's final spurt, the 1st quarter in the ETF market in 2024 was rather subdued, despite the positive market environment. This resulted in a decline in turnover of 24.08% compared to the 4th quarter. This resulted in a total turnover of CHF 15.829 billion in the first quarter of 2024. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, however, the number of trades was up 2.32%. In terms of numbers, the first three months were very lively. ⭐ The report also features statistics about Quote on Demand (QOD), our successful on-exchange RFQ solution with CCP clearing that increases trading efficiency and helps reducing transaction costs: Since its launch in December 2020, monthly turnover has risen continuously. 🗨️ In addition to detailed statistics on the ETF segment of SIX Swiss Exchange, the latest market report also includes an interview with Patrick Beuret, Country Head Switzerland at PIMCO. The ETF sector will be up against a “perfect storm” on 28 May when T+1 comes into force, predicts a report by the Financial Times. The article gathers opinions from industry insiders, who identify two major factors that are likely to contribute to a surge in failed trades on implementation day: the timing of the transition, and the nature of ETFs.

Both the equity and fixed income buckets of the ETF Stream 2024 portfolio beat our 60/40 benchmark in Q1. Particular highlights included active US equities, currency hedged Japan and short duration Treasuries. However, delays to rate cuts proved painful for size factor and longer duration allocations. Total #ETF assets listed on the London Stock Exchange rose by £32.56bn (up 3%) over June, driven by strong net inflows (see chart 2), growing 29.1% on an annual basis. Total flows were down from May’s £16.47bn, at £11.6bn (£115.4bn over 12 months), but still the third highest inflows of the year. Although Q2 equity advances were slower and more volatile than Q1, June’s direction was upwards, and equity ETFs almost the sole beneficiaries of inflows for the month, netting £11.68bn (£97.74bn over 12 months). MMFs were in the black to £582m (£3.5bn over 12 months); alternatives £28m (-£903m); and mixed assets a scant £3m (-£560m). Bond ETFs, on the other hand, shed £515m (but up £14.5bn for the year), and commodities down £172m (£1.12bn).
