📈 The ETF Market Report Q4/2023 is out, providing you with all the insightful facts & figures about the ETF segment of SIX Swiss Exchange: https://six.swiss/47YLIWe 📊 In the 4th quarter of 2023, trading turnover in ETFs on SIX Swiss Exchange recorded a 43.29% increase in turnover to CHF 20.849 billion in the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter (CHF 14.550 billion). This resulted in an increase of 46.08% as against the same quarter of the previous year. Assets invested in the #ETFs industry in the United States reached a new record high of US$9.18 trillion at the end of June, according to ETFGI's June 2024 US ETFs industry landscape report. Highlights Assets have increased 13.1% YTD in 2024, going from $8.11 Tn at end of 2023 to $9.18 Tn. Net inflows of $82.24 Bn gathered during June 2024. Total flows were ahead of March’s, at £7.78bn (£99.68bn over 12 months). Equity funds netted most of this, at £6.17bn (£79.7bn over 12 months). All asset class flows were in the black for April, with bond ETFs taking £1.13bn (£17.58bn over 12 months); commodities at £381m (£564m); money market £77m (£2.67bn); mixed assets £14m (-£465m); and alternatives £10m (£362m). https://lnkd.in/dgUJiEvu

Europe has around 100 issuers & the US 4x or 5x & around 10% of #assetmanagers having an ETF solution. US >50%. Total #ETF assets listed on the London Stock Exchange rose by £32.56bn (up 3%) over June, driven by strong net inflows (see chart 2), growing 29.1% on an annual basis. Total flows were down from May’s £16.47bn, at £11.6bn (£115.4bn over 12 months), but still the third highest inflows of the year. Although Q2 equity advances were slower and more volatile than Q1, June’s direction was upwards, and equity ETFs almost the sole beneficiaries of inflows for the month, netting £11.68bn (£97.74bn over 12 months). MMFs were in the black to £582m (£3.5bn over 12 months); alternatives £28m (-£903m); and mixed assets a scant £3m (-£560m). Bond ETFs, on the other hand, shed £515m (but up £14.5bn for the year), and commodities down £172m (£1.12bn). BofA | ETFs by the numbers Some statistics to reflect the variety and virtues of the ETF market: - The first: SPY, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, was offered in 1993. It remains the largest, with $391bn of assets under management, and the most actively traded. - The followers: there has been approximately one fund launched for every day since inception; fourteen thousand, eight hundred ten funds in 11,239 days. - The assets: the global ETF market has $10.4tn in assets under management. It has been growing at a rate of 15% over the past five years and may surpass mutual fund assets by 2025. The size of the average fund is $1.1bn AUM. - The averages: the average ETF is 7 years old, has $1.1bn in assets, has 251 holdings, and costs 0.16% per year to own - The diversification: the average correlation with the S&P 500 for a US listed equity ETF is 0.55. The average correlation for a bond ETF with the US Aggregate Bond benchmark is 0.48. - The taxes: the creation/redemption process makes ETFs more tax-efficient for household investors, saving approximately $250bn vs. mutual funds since 2001. SPY has accumulated $329bn in tax-free capital gains since 2000. - The liquidity: ETFs represent 31% of average daily equity market trading, with nine ETFs among the 21 most traded securities in the US. The average bid/ask spread is just 0.2%. Fixed income ETFs have improved price discovery and liquidity in the bond market, according to the SEC. - The access: over 24,000 unique global stocks and 50,000 unique global bonds can be held using ETFs. Funds vary widely in complexity: GLD just owns physical gold, while a fund like ALTL alternates over time among multifactor strategies. - The active: 95% of the global ETF market passively tracks an index, while 5% are actively managed.
