90% of my time spent to applying a job is procrastinating to craft the perfect resume 🗒 ! How many of you would agree? Time I put in perfecting the resume = Months Time spent by a recruiter or hiring manager reviewing that resume = 20 Seconds And if you are not from a premier institute or have big brand names in your experience, where do you stand a chance to get a second glance? Traditional ATS are not robust enough for suggesting synonymous keywords. How the the Recruiter understand whom to shortlist? No! I am not calling anyone out here. Previously, I would simply blame the recruiter whenever I didn’t get shortlisted. But, I recently sat with our TA Prakash Selvakumar, and the struggle is damn real! We have 1k+ resumes for each job listing. What does he do? Where does he start? Let me admit this out in the open ”A Day in TA’s life is overwhelming” Now there are 3 parties in a job listing. And to each, the problem is different 1️⃣ The Applicant 👩💼 - How does one cut through the noise to get an interview? 2️⃣ The Recruiter 👨💼 - How does the recruiter shortlist good profiles for a on open role? 3️⃣ The Company/Hiring Manager 🏤 - How the company ensure they have access to the top talent pool & hire the right candidate? Now I wonder, Are resumes still the way ahead? 🤔 P.s. On a completely different note, We are hiring multiple positions at Rocketlane. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗖𝗩? 〚question1〛 𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂? 〚question2〛 If you said "yes" to both questions, you probably understand how important a good CV/resume is and how it can help you stand out. Recent research shows that recruiters spend 6-8 seconds reviewing to evaluate a resume before determining its suitability for a job opening. Recruiters and hiring managers often find themselves overwhelmed with resumes, sometimes handling as many as 100 to 400 or more in a single day, especially when they're actively looking to hire for a job. Google gets about 1,000 resumes every day! If you want to catch people's attention, you have to be different from the rest of the crowd. 1️⃣ Catch their attention. 2️⃣ Show how you can bring value. Just being different with an empty resume won't be helpful either. #cv #resume #job #career #recruiters #hr

Recruiter to job seeker, Having a generalized resume is not something you apply to jobs with. If a recruiter has to guess what type of role you’re looking for because you’re applying with a general resume, 9/10 you’re going to be rejected. A generalized resume is for you and your memory. You pick which parts of that general resume belong on your customized resumes when applying to specific jobs. You should be tailoring each resume to align with the job and/or company you’re applying to. Your summary section, skills and experience should be specific to that role. #resume #jobbunt #recruiter #hiring

You could be just 1 application away from your dream job! If a recruiter reaches out to you and you aren't interested in the job, still send them your resume! You never know what jobs they will receive, and by just sending over your resume - you're already at an advantage than most other candidates. You skip the wait for your resume to be read, you skip the wait to know if you meet the qualifications, you skip the wait to be contacted - it's a much quicker process to help you get that job! #recruiting #hiring #jobsearch #careers #interview #applynow #resume

✅𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. I was frustrated when I sent my resume over 100 tech companies and barely got any response. Here are some tips that worked for me.👩💻 📍𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝘁: ▪️Overexplain Interviewers spend only 7 seconds on a resume, so including redundant information makes it lengthy and less engaging. ▪️Bombard with projects Avoid listing too many projects on your resume. Highlight only your best projects to avoid looking disorganized. ▪️Too much Design It distracts the interviewer from important information relevant to the job you apply for. 📍𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱: ▪️Keep your sentences short, avoid keeping a multi page resume. Quality matters over quantity. ▪️Choose the best projects which are relevant to the job profile and try to quantify the results and outcomes. ▪️Keep your resume compact, avoid leaving too much white space. Keep it simple and professional. 👉Implementing these few changes has boosted my response rate significantly. #JobSearch #CareerAdvice #DataAnalytics #ResumeTips #JobHunting #CareerDevelopment #DataAnalyst #ResumeBuilding #JobApplication #CareerGrowth #TechJobs #DataJobs

🌟Day 1 of The Hub had been a huge success!🌟 One of my takeaways from discussions and our lives, is people struggling to get their Resume/CV seen, or people getting feedback or interviews. The common problems that cause these issues are: 1) Resume/CV's not formatted correctly. 2) Applying to Jobs that you aren't a match for. So, the answers to these two main issues for being GHOSTED, are our two KEY Tools below: 1) ATS Readability Checker. 2) Job Matching Tool. The Checker will ensure your Resume/CV is formatted correctly and will guarantee it passes through all Application Systems and will get seen by real people. The Job Matcher will match against your Resume/CV and will let you know if you are a fit, based on a scoring out of 10. It will tell you if there is or isn't a fit and if its worth applying and what skills are the most relevant and required. Both of these tools will DRASTICALLY improve your chances of responses and also getting interviews and ultimately getting HIRED!!!! To utilise both of these GAME CHANGING tools, register at The Hub now, below in the comment section. And start flexing those JOB SEARCHING muscles! #thehub #hiring #jobs #jobsearch #cv #Resume #Application #opentowork #opentoopportunities #interviewing

Good story, but one of the main takeaways for me is the grit and resilience to keep following up. I have heard more than one success story about a candidate who was interviewed five times for five different roles before actually getting hired. In fact, I have the same story. Don’t give up! #JobHuntingTips #Layoffs #ResumeTip

This was the resume that got me my first job as a recruiter. I didn’t have any experience and it was for an entry level recruiting role. I interviewed 5x for the same company and was rejected due to gaps, no relevant experience, not having a degree, and was told I wouldn’t last long there. They didn’t even take the chance to interview me as a person, they were too focused on my resume. But the resume doesn’t showcase the entire potential of a person. On the 5th try, the recruiter kept advocating for me. The director at the time was very hesitant because I had nothing on my resume that determined I could be successful here. However the recruiter stood up for me that I was communicative, followed up, and kept showing up to interview at every location even though I was rejected. The director ended up setting me up with two hiring managers on her team and I showed up did the interview and got the job because the hiring manager chose to look outside my resume and me as a person and the potential I could have instead. What I’ve learned is that resumes matter to an extent to showcase skillsets and experiences, but it matters more the person behind the piece of paper and the potential they have to offer. I partnered with Kickresume where they have hundreds of unique and different styled resume templates that utilizes an AI-bullet point generator that is able to help create and curate skillsets and experiences per role. They have helped candidates get into companies such as Accenture, Apple, Amazon, American Express, and much more. Resumes are one piece of the puzzle, but it’s the person behind it that makes the picture come together 🚀 #kickresumepartner #ad

10moThanks Dhirajkumar Chettiar for saying it out loud which only a recruiter can empathise and most applicants/people tend to neglect.
