Yesterday marked the World Day for Cultural Diversity - a day for the promotion of diversity and inter-cultural dialogue. This day is especially important at this time where geo-political issues are negatively impacting so many and respectful dialogue seems to be a last resort. At Allianz Australia, we recognised this day with the launch of our "My Name, My Identity" initiative, led by our newly formed employee network group focused on cultural diversity - Allianz One. With approximately 44% of Allianz people identifying with another culture apart from Australian, this initiative allows our people to share the correct pronunciation of their names. Why is this important? It's important because our names are symbolic of our bond to our diverse heritage and what we hold dear. When others try to pronounce our names correctly, it shows they care in wanting to build authentic connections and begin that much needed inter-cultural dialogue. I feel privileged to work at #Allianz where everyone gets involved in building a culture of care and belonging.
