Congratulations Wes You have a big job ahead, but please make sure you don’t provide lip service to Social Care, children and adults. It’s in need of much more practical support so that real partnership with the NHS can be finally achieved. Also, don’t forget the importance of End of Life Care and the Ambitions Partnership. #EOLC

This will be a test of how much the Secretary of State is willing and able to change the culture of the NHS. This means getting real professional leadership coming in from the outside who are not afraid to confront the current NHS bureaucracy but equally, hiring people who know how to lead time-served NHS people, highly resistant to change, into embracing new ways of working. If you want to see how dysfunctional the NHS is today - read the multitude of 'Board papers' published by NHS ICBs.

Very much look forward to working with you to improve outcomes for women’s health and the ‘rare & less common’ gynaecological cancers that 60 women a day are diagnosed with in the UK

Thrilled with this news Department of Health and Social Care. You are very, very welcome Wes Streeting. You have Prof Jamie Waterall and team in OHID and I hope No.10 will make the right decision about our next Chief Nursing Officer. Whilst I acknowledge the need to fix a broken NHS, and performance is one of the core priorities, we must not focus on this alone. We therefore need the CNO to rejoin the CMO, CSO, CPO, CSW and Chief Nurse for Social Care in DHSC. Our Chief Officers are the nominated heads of profession and DHSC is the system steward. We are in a crisis within nursing and midwifery. This crisis is system wide and the platform is burning. We need our head of profession to be focused, visionary, brave, community and population centred, relatable, someone who walks the walk, is authentic and has integrity. And finally, someone who speaks truth to power. Our CNO is not the national Director of Nursing for NHSE, ICBs and NHS providers alone. As a previous civil servant with experience in the wider system and from the other side, happy to connect anytime. 👍

Social care needs to be addressed and people able to create their own support and not put on the chest to be bid on we aren’t commodities

AXREM look forward to engaging with Wes Streeting and his team to talk about capacity of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, patient monitoring, AI and associated IT upscaling, aged assets etc. As we represent over 90% of the CT and MRI market in the UK we can have some meaningful conversations.
