We are delighted to be the founding partner for The Godavari initiative, a multi-stakeholder collaborative platform to address critical challenges related to the health of Upper Godavari River basin.
The initiative will drive collective action to address the broader systemic water risks in water-stressed basins and is a step forward in preserving water for life, a key priority under our Society 2030: Spirit of Progress Plan and in line with UN SDG. Such partnerships are key to achieving a net positive water impact and we look forward to collaborating with corporates, government agencies and civil society organisations on this initiative.

We have come to understand that degradation of fertile soil is one of the major contributors in climate change and the cause of all the natural disasters globally like droughts, floods and many other related issues.
As a long term solution to these issues, Sadhguru JV presented a 3-pronged strategy to safeguard soil health & to support farmers at COP15 - UNCCD:
1. Minimum 3-6% organic matter in agricultural soil through incentive-based policy in all nations
2. Carbon credit systems by industries & businesses as second line of incentive for farmers
3. Foods from lands with over 3% organic matter marked for superior quality in the marketplace & thereby ensure higher remuneration for farmers
#ConsciousPlanet is a vision by Sadhguru JV to tackle global issues like #MentalHealth & #SaveSoilFixClimateChange by generating awareness about our #Soil and to raise our voices in unison for soil health policies.
We must act now to #SaveSoil

Exciting news from Ethiopia: a significant partnership between the government and UNDP Ethiopia, supported by Global Environment Facility, has launched the FOLUR project. This ambitious initiative aims to tackle deforestation and integrate sustainability into Ethiopia's coffee value chains, with an impressive budget of USD 20,842,202.
The FOLUR project's goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by millions of tons, improve livelihoods for hundreds of thousands, and restore vast areas of coffee gardens and forests. It's a crucial step towards environmental sustainability and better livelihoods, aligning with Ethiopia's Green Legacy initiative and CRGE strategy.

At AgUnity, we're closely aligned with such transformative efforts. We understand that digitising smallholder value chains is key to compliance with national and international regulations like #EUDR. Through our work, including significant achievements like onboarding over 560 000 farmer records for Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU), we aim to ensure smallholder farmers remain viable players in the international market.

🍃Transforming rural communities in Central Nepal
Supported by the JTI Foundation, Bighnaharta Nepal's bioengineering program is delivering important economic and ecological benefits to indigenous communities. Now, the Foundation’s Board has approved its next stage of expansion.
The initiative starts with the planting of broom grass, which improves the stability and quality of uncultivated and degraded soil, reducing the risks of flooding and landslides. Then, members of the local communities are trained to turn broom grass into brooms, creating a new income stream. And now, the introduction of a digital application will promote wider engagement – new elements include political engagement, workshops and the recycling of broom grass agricultural waste into the local paper manufacturing industry.
The success of the program has been widely featured in Nepalese media and selected for an UNDP award.🏆

🌾 Focus of the Month: Sustainable Food 🚜
On our journey toward a more sustainable world, we've seen the powerful impact of investing in sustainable food systems. One shining example from our portfolio is Agri Evolve in Uganda, a profit-for-purpose business dedicated to enhancing coffee quality and increasing farmer incomes ☕.
Agri Evolve works directly with over 20,000 local farmers, many of whom are already Rainforest Alliance and/or organic certified, setting high standards for environmental, economic, and social sustainability. This Agri-Business is a certified B Corporation and provides extensive training to help farmers improve their agronomic and harvesting practices 🌱.
By supporting Agri Evolve, we’re not only promoting sustainable farming but also fostering fair wages, ethical labor, and impactful community projects. Their initiatives include tree planting, energy-efficient stoves, clean water access, and Village Savings and Loan Association projects, all aimed at improving the lives of those they work with!

🌊 As we celebrate World Water Day 2024, I am glad to be a #Youth4Adaptation Delegate at Youth Adaptation Forum for Water, Global Center on Adaptation.
It's paramount to highlight the significant strides made by Government of India and corporates in water resource management.
🔹 Jal Jeevan Mission: Since its inception in 2019, the mission has provided piped water supply to over 100 million rural households, aiming to cover all rural households by 2024, as per the government's target.
🔹 Clean Ganga Project: Over ₹26,000 crores have been allocated to clean the Ganges River, with approximately 350 projects completed, including sewage treatment plants and riverfront development, resulting in a substantial reduction in pollution levels by up to 70% in certain stretches.
🔹 Atal Bhujal Yojana: With an investment of ₹6,000 crores, the scheme aims to improve groundwater management in priority areas, covering around 8350 gram panchayats across seven states, benefitting millions of people with sustainable groundwater practices.
Kudos to such efforts taken by , Government of India.
🔹 Corporate Initiatives: Leading companies like Unilever, The Coca-Cola Company, and Tata Steel have implemented water conservation projects, collectively saving billions of liters of water. For instance, Hindustan Unilever's Project Prabhat has reduced water consumption per unit of production by 49% since 2008, equivalent to approximately 1.4 billion liters of water saved annually.
These initiatives underscore the collective commitment to water security and sustainability, laying the foundation for a resilient future. 💧 #WorldWaterDay#Youth4Adaptation#YouthAdaptationForum#WaterForProsperityAndPeace#WaterManagement#Sustainability
How old 🔞 will you be in 2045?
By then, we could be living in a world with 40% less food 🥗 due to soil degradation – unless we raise our 🗣️ voices to #SaveSoil.
Save Soil, a global movement envisioned by Sadhguru JV , seeks to bring about a concerted, conscious response to impending soil extinction.
Action now: savesoil.org
🌱 Improving livelihoods of 5,000+ farmers.
🌱 Avoiding 25,000+ tons of CO2 emissions.
🌱 Revenues & gross margins growing ~3x & ~4x pa. EBITDA positive already in 2 countries.
🌱 Expanding to 3rd country, Indonesia. Impressive!
Agros, our first Wavemaker Impact portfolio company, helps farmers double profits, improve soil health and yields plus reduce emissions, replacing noisy, dirty diesel pumps with clean solar. Clear product market fit. Besides sustainable farming solutions, Agros do something else really well…
They know their customer. They know who they are, what distinct problems they face (by region) and how to best tailor their products and services to meet their needs. Why do I say that?
> They discovered different regions face distinct challenges due to varying climate conditions and soil types.
> They test soil to give farmers tailored recommendations for inputs, increasing crop yields up to 25%
> They match repayment schedules with harvest cycles to help farmers cashflow
> They developed a farmer champion program that incentivises early adopters
Agros aims to help 100,000 farmers and mitigate over 1 mega tons of GHG emissions within five years - helped by recent Indonesia expansion. Keep up the great work Max Nelen, Arga Wicaksono, Vincent Angga Gunawan, Raisa Hosin, Thet Naing, Soeng Vay, Louise Berthault and the whole Agros team… onwards and upwards!
If you're an experienced founder, or business builder, who wants to build a sustainability unicorn but doesn’t know where to start… we’d love to help realise your mission to make a planet and people positive impact!

Creating Change Through Clothing | Speaker, writer, consultant | founder Where Does It Come From? | Director Khadi London | Where Does It Come From? podcast host.
I founded Where Does It Come From? in 2013 to focus on creating clothing that is as kind as possible to the environment, to the people involved in all stages of making it and to the people wearing it. Today that seems like a no brainer but at that time it was fairly radical!
Ten years ago today, World Environment Day 2014, we launched our first collection - denim jeans, shorts, dresses and jackets for children, all totally traceable and made using sustainable handwoven khadi denim and created in fairtrade co-operatives (Udyog Bharti and Zorastrian Ladies Industrial Co-operative.) Our design and production partner was (and still is) Moralfibre Fabrics, led by SHAILINI SHETH AMIN.
In the ten years that have followed we have continued to learn and drive for projects that support the environment - regenerative farming, circularity, natural dyes and more - whilst retaining our radical traceability and storytelling.
We still have our retail shop online, now award winning, rated as 'great' on Good On You and rated highly by Ethical Consumer Magazine amongst others. We have also focused on changing businesses - supporting their transition to transparency, sustainability and ethics in their uniform and merchandise through product development and consultancy.
It has been a challenging and rewarding decade but we're still here and still focused on driving change through textiles - please get in touch if you'd like to work with us and check out our website to explore our ethical clothing for all the family!

Today is World Environment Day and, coincidentally also the anniversary of the launch of our first collection - denim children's clothing - 10 years ago!
Supporting our natural environment has always been key to what we do at Where Does It Come From?, whether it is the materials we use, the energy sources and even hosting our website on a wind powered server.
This photo shows a farmer at Gram Sewa Mandel, one of our partners, harvesting rain fed indigenous cotton by hand. Growing fibres in partnership with nature, rather than using an extractive model which damages soil health, is a key way to support nature.
You can find out more about our focus on the environment on our website.
How will you support nature on World Environment Day?
