If the "now" means nothing and our perception of time is more a convention than a reality, it is still possible to quantify an hour and, in a productive and capitalistic convention like daylight saving time, make it disappear and rewind upon itself. This silver salt photograph restores that lost hour, with a 60-minute exposure taken at 3 a.m. on 27/10/2024, when the convention manifests itself in an automatism that regulates our clocks. A nighttime photograph capturing a horizon over the sea with no lights: an image that would be impossible to produce due to the Schwarzschild effect, also known as reciprocity failure, which characterizes both long and short exposures. As if, with the expansion and fragmentation of time captured by an analog camera, the quantification of time itself ceases to exist. A photograph that both documents and, at the same time, bears witness to a lost interval. Using bubble wrap as a gobo on set with Ceri Jones 📸 In case that sentence makes no sense at all: 🌟 A gobo is a 'go between' (technically it's a 'go before optics' but colloquially it's known as a go between). It refers to any material placed between the light source and the subject that manipulates the light in some way or creates pattern in the light. 🌟 Obviously you know what bubble wrap is, but the reason I'm using it is because it creates really lovely dappled light.
