Vintage Car Sales Get Freezer Burn as Collectors Ditch Glamour for Simplicity By Domenic Lipoma The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered the way people spend their leisure time, shifting from lavish pursuits to simpler, more low-key activities. This trend is now being reflected in the world of vintage car collecting, where enthusiasts are increasingly prioritizing practicality over opulence. As the linked article from Bloomberg News notes, vintage car sales are experiencing a decline as collectors opt for more straightforward and functional vehicles. Gone are the days of seeking out rare, high-end collectibles; instead, collectors are turning to more mundane models that offer a return to a simpler era of driving. This shift away from glamour and towards practicality is not limited to vintage car collecting. The pandemic has brought about a broader societal shift towards a more straightforward and uncomplicated lifestyle, with many people seeking out activities and possessions that align with this philosophy. As the world continues to evolve in response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, it will be interesting to see how the world of vintage car collecting adapts. Will collectors continue to prioritize simplicity and practicality, or will the allure of high-end collectibles prove too great to resist? Only time will tell. --- Domenic Lipoma is a seasoned journalist and car enthusiast with a keen eye for the trends shaping the world of vintage car collecting. His work has been featured in numerous publications, and he is always eager to share his insights and perspectives on the automotive world.

👑 5 Lessons from Queen Máxima’s Visit 👑 A year ago, we had the incredible honor of hosting 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗠á𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗮 of the Netherlands at our office. We presented her with De Groene Parel trophy as a tribute to her inspiring role as an ambassador for sustainability. I don’t usually follow the royals, but her visit left a lasting impression. She was exceptionally well-prepared, asking sharp questions and following up with genuine curiosity. It showed me how powerful good preparation can be in making any meeting impactful. Here are 5 lessons I learned: 1️⃣ Preparation is key Queen Máxima’s team had clearly briefed her thoroughly. Her detailed questions showed how preparation can elevate the quality of any interaction. 2️⃣ Stay curious She didn’t just accept answers at face value. She explored ideas, seeking to understand challenges and opportunities on a deeper level. 3️⃣ Engage authentically Her genuine interest made the conversation impactful and memorable. It reminded me that authenticity is a bridge to meaningful connections. 4️⃣ Be ready for the unexpected Her follow-up questions challenged me to think on my feet. It’s a reminder that adaptability is crucial in any discussion. 5️⃣ Sustainability ambassadors Family businesses thrive at sustainability because they think in generations, not quarterly goals. Monarchies are the ultimate family businesses, and if more royals followed Queen Máxima’s lead, they’d be perfect ambassadors for long-term change. Writing this post, I’ve realized her visit was far more insightful than I expected. Honestly, I never thought I’d get so enthusiastic about the Dutch Monarchy. But maybe it’s not the monarchy, it’s just Queen Máxima herself. #groupie

The late Queen Elizabeth jumped out of a helicopter with James Bond at the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. Okay, fine—her body double handled the actual jump, but the late Queen played her part perfectly in the setup. The result? An opening ceremony that was undeniably British and unforgettable. This was no ordinary stunt; it was a masterclass in extreme creativity. By throwing logic and practicality out the window (or in this case, out of a helicopter), the organizers created a moment that’s etched in history. Here’s the takeaway: when you’re stuck on a problem, think big—no, bigger. Use exaggeration as a tool to stretch your imagination and creativity. - exaggerate the problem and how satisfying it will be to solve it - exaggerate the potential solutions so much that they sound silly - exaggerate what you think you can do in your life or career, more than you ever thought possible Even in a world where AI will handle the mundane, this kind of audacious thinking will always set great marketers and innovators apart. So, what’s your version of a “helicopter jump” moment?

Ashton College will be closed for Victoria Day in Canada: May 20th, 2024 Why do Canadians celebrate Victoria Day? • Birthday: Queen Victoria’s birthday. She reigned for 63 years! • Honouring History: Queen Victoria's reign coincided with Canada's Confederation in 1867, earning her the nickname "Mother of Confederation." • Unofficial Summer Kickoff: Victoria Day often falls on the long weekend before summer. Many Canadians see it as a time to fire up the BBQ, head to the cottage, or enjoy some outdoor activities! Do all provinces and territories recognize Victoria Day as a statutory holiday? No. There are four Canadian provinces that don't celebrate Victoria Day in the same way as the rest of Canada: • Nova Scotia: Victoria Day isn't a statutory holiday in Nova Scotia. They enjoy the long weekend, but it's not an official provincial holiday. • New Brunswick: New Brunswick doesn't consider Victoria Day a paid public holiday. • Prince Edward Island: Prince Edward Island has Victoria Day listed as a holiday in provincial legislation, but it's not a statutory holiday with guaranteed time off work. • Quebec: Quebec renamed the holiday "Journée nationale des Patriotes" (National Patriotes Day) in 2002 to commemorate the Quebec Rebellion of 1837-38.

Fortitude and commitment are words that encapsulate the approach of Queen Elizabeth for herself and the country. She knew her role was to lead the hearts of the nation and truly understand what made people tick. As #businessleaders we face many challenges on a day to day basis, which we call the competitive landscape, and from time to time we face seismic change however we have a vision and accept the mission to deliver it. #Leaders of all levels require courage to deliver their goals and inspire others to follow. For #salesleaders and our teams in the forefront of customer engagement, we recognise the need to be bold, to take into account the challenges we face and to face them head on. We are often the people who need to bounce back first from disappointment, to look to the strategic direction and sometimes make difficult decisions for the common good. We can all take a lead from the words of Elizabeth R, we don't lie down, we focus on the future and do what it takes to make that future better for all, our customers our teams and ultimately therefore, for ourselves. #QueenElizabethII #inspirationalleader #positivemindset Christmas Broadcast 2008
