An actual unicorn* here. *of a job This is such a special opportunity if you're a fundraiser who's obsessed with creative. Honestly. Direct Marketers/Supporter Experience Obsessives/Loyalty and Engagement Gurus have to be Creatives, at heart: relentlessly inquisitive and prone to getting overexcited and geeky about propositions, short and long copy, design, insight, testing and strategy and finding inspiration from all that (and then having to live and die** by how things perform). This magic job gives you dedicated time and space to really focus on finding The Thing that'll inspire hearts and minds, to help the Red Cross. Tis the dream. Also: I can't say enough good things about British Red Cross as an employer. I'd go even further though with the good things I'd say about Rebecca Shore as a boss and leader (even though she'll do a little sick in her mouth to read me say so), and the actually remarkable Ami O'Neill and Katie Johnson - working with them changed my career for the so-much-better. Office politics can DESTROY hardworking careers! I've seen it happen too many times - talented, dedicated employees passed over for promotions and opportunities because they lack the political savvy to navigate the office landscape. If you don't learn to master office politics, it can derail even the most promising careers. Promotions, raises, and high-visibility projects go to those skilled at playing the game. But the goal shouldn't be to become a Machiavellian schemer. It's about developing the emotional intelligence to complement your technical expertise. Learn to build genuine relationships, self-promote tactfully, and identify key influencers. You know what the biggest problem people who work in social media face is? 🚩Stunted creative potential. Having a higher up that supports and encourages your freedom to experiment makes a world of a difference. If you’re hiring someone to do social media, don’t reject every idea just because you “Haven’t done it before.” 😅hold on a second because …isn’t that the whole point? To have a fresh new perspective with new ideas? If you’re hiring someone for social, let them play the field. Allow them to push the envelope ~just~ a little bit. STOP shackling opportunity!!
