Dolce & Gabbana has just released their latest luxury offering—perfume for dogs! 🐾💎 While this new product sparks excitement among pet owners eager to pamper their furry friends, it's also raising eyebrows among veterinarians. The idea of bringing high-end fragrances to the pet market is undeniably unique and taps into the growing trend of treating pets like family. For some, indulging their pets is fun, giving them a taste of the luxury lifestyle. But as glamorous as it sounds, experts express concern over the potential health risks. Vets warn that perfumes, even those designed for pets, can cause skin irritations, allergic reactions, and respiratory issues in animals, who are much more sensitive to scents than humans. So, while this new venture by Dolce & Gabbana is undoubtedly a testament to the evolving world of pet care and luxury, pet owners must consider their pets' well-being before spritzing them with these lavish scents. #PetCare #PetProducts #VeterinaryConcerns #LuxuryPets #DolceGabbana

Do you think dog grooming is just for show? Think about it again. On a cold Monday morning, a happy client walked in with his 2-year-old Lhasa Apso dog. He brought the dog for its monthly routine check-up and necessary treatments. Though the dog was good-looking, its hair was bothersome and somewhat repelling. The hair was matted, tangled, and dirty in some regions, with ticks visible. I asked the owner why he allowed the hair to get in such a state. His response was sincere and simple: "Doctor, I don't have the luxury of time to groom my dog's hair or comb it all the time because I am a busy person." His response made me look at him with a bombastic side eye, but I quickly switched to a smile. "Maybe you don't know the importance of keeping your dog's hair neat, free of tangles, and less bushy," I thought aloud. I then decided to quickly lecture him on its importance. Dear pet owners, aside from feeding, regular veterinary visits, and prompt exercise, your furry friend's skin and hair care is crucial. Why? Because it covers their entire body and is a key indicator of their overall well-being. Some dogs, especially hairy breeds, have hair that grows faster and longer due to genetic factors. These breeds shed regularly, making grooming essential. Here are other reasons why you should groom your dog: - Combing and brushing your dog's hair helps remove shed hairs to prevent matting and dirt accumulation. - Regular grooming allows you to spot ectoparasites lurking on your dog's skin. - It helps you detect skin infections and unnecessary hair loss early. - Finally, it keeps your dog's hair neat, clean, and free of debris. Grooming your dog is an essential part of their care that must be done regularly. If you love your dog, you will make time to maintain its health and physical appearance. After the lecture, he appreciated my advice and promised to be more intentional about caring for his dog's hair. Hope you gained value. Repost if you do and follow me for more pet care tips. #petcare #petlovers #bvlc #veterinarians

How to measure the Health of your Preventative Health Plan? This week I attended the VetForum event in Barcelona and met with a number of European multi site / country veterinary groups, who were all aware broadly of the value that a plan could deliver to their group but were less clear on what success looked like, the actual value that a plan can deliver, or the key metrics that needed to be tracked. In this article, we share the top 10 metrics that we work with our clients to track and measure, to ensure that their plan is growing and delivering the right value. https://lnkd.in/eh3bAgUV

"He's just getting old." For the grey-muzzled lab having trouble getting up the stairs, the 14-year-old tabby cat secluding herself under the bed, or the senior spaniel getting lost in his own house, there is more going on than "just getting old." It's easy to chalk up declines and changes in senior pets to their age; however, it's important to remember old age itself is not a disease. Senior pets are, however, more likely to develop common age-related conditions such as osteoarthritis, cognitive dysfunction, and kidney disease. There are many ways to help your pet live comfortably and well during this stage of life. If you notice any changes in your pet, even if subtle, it's important to discuss these with your veterinarian. In this article I wrote for Great Pet Care (A Covetrus Solution), I go over some practical tips to support your senior dog's well-being. Do you have a sweet senior pet at home? I love those grey muzzles and wise furry faces. Please share your pic in the comments! #petcare #veterinarymedicine #dogs #animalhealth #petcontent #vetmed #caninehealth

As Americans of all income levels care for their cherished animals, they’re facing bigger vet bills that can substantially impact their finances and sometimes complicate already wrenching decisions. #Veterinarians are reporting a marked increase over the last several years – especially since the pandemic – in the cost of running a practice, which inevitably gets passed along to clients. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price of urban veterinarian services rose by 7.9% from February 2023 to February 2024, more than 2½ times higher than the average of all consumer items. Compared with two years ago, urban vet care is up 11%, and over the last decade, it has soared by nearly 60%.
