Experienced Sales and Business Development Professional | Driving e-payments and Digital Banking Adoption
Thinking back to my university days, my final year thesis was centered around the adoption of MEPS Cash among students. Back then, MEPS Cash was truly ahead of its time – a precursor to the cashless wave we’re experiencing today. Despite its innovation, adoption didn’t quite take off as expected, and eventually, MEPS Cash was phased out. This was when the Touch ‘n Go card emerged, a solution that has since become deeply embedded in our daily lives. Interestingly, both MEPS Cash and Touch ‘n Go functionalities were integrated into our national identity cards at the time, but despite that, widespread usage for MEPS Cash remained a challenge while adoption for Touch N Go Card eventually growing until today. What’s fascinating is that much of my research was inspired by the thesis "A Study on Users Perception Towards Cash Card Usage in UPM" (2001) by Associate Professor Dr. Maizatul Akmar Binti Ismail. For those interested, you can check out the full thesis here: https://lnkd.in/gFaarbiW Looking at where we are today, it’s incredible to see how far Malaysia’s payment landscape has come. From those early days to the continuous innovations introduced by PayNet (Payments Network Malaysia) , we are making strides to create a more convenient and connected future for all Malaysians. #PayNet #throwback #digitalpayment #mepscash #cashlesssociety
