Health messages are most effective when delivered in an infotainment style. ICAP takes initiative in spreading the crucial “U=U” message, which means that HIV is NOT sexually transmitted if the individual is on suppressive ART. Our web mini-series, “The Room,” is another effort to share the U=U message, fight HIV stigma, and provide insights into how people navigate their HIV diagnosis and journey towards physical, mental, and emotional recovery. This initiative is funded by PEPFAR through the CDC. #UequalsU #UequalsUMyanmar #ICAP #CDC #PEPFAR https://lnkd.in/e_dhM_vg

The 20th century witnessed a dark chapter in US history with the widespread practice of forced sterilization, targeting marginalized communities – poor black women in the South, Native American women, and Puerto Rican women– under the guise of public health. See These policies violated countless individuals’ fundamental reproductive rights, the right to bear children. Those deemed “unfit” to reproduce – the poor, promiscuous women, people of color, immigrants, and those with disabilities– were sterilized without their consent, perpetuating systemic discrimination. While some state governments and the federal government have acknowledged these injustices, the scars of these policies remain, underscoring the ongoing fight for reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. For generations, women have fought tirelessly to secure the right to decide for themselves whether, when, or how many children to have. But the fight is far from over. Rights can be taken away as quickly as they are won, and staying informed and engaged is critical to protecting our reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy.
