How do I get opportunities as a fresher Product or UX/UI Designer?🧐 I get this question a lot. Here are my tips based on the challenges freshers face in landing a job: 1. Create Strong Case Studies    Case studies are crucial for landing a job. They can be showcased on Behance, a personal website, Notion, Medium, or elsewhere. A detailed case study is essential. I recommend including at least 2 mobile apps and 2 web apps in your portfolio and a few websites 2. Approach the Right Way Be in the right place at the right time. Apply across multiple platforms, not just one. Expanding your reach increases your chances of finding opportunities. 3. Network and Ask for Referrals   Reach out to people working at companies you're interested in or message design member, HR and founders. A well-crafted message asking for a referral can help you stand out.   *Note: Ensure your messages are well-written and free of grammatical errors. Poor grammar can be a turn-off.* 4. Frame a Good Resume Highlight relevant experience and skills in your resume. Make sure it’s ATS-friendly and that your portfolio link is easily clickable. 5. Showcase Your Work Regularly display your work. This visibility helps attract recruiters and provides social proof of your skills. 6. Work Hard Many freshers can work hard, and it pays off. If you are NIC or EIC, do NOT NOT NOT apply to this. They are trying to get ideas from your portfolio. Look at the ask, "Share your portfolio, salary will be based on the quality of your work." 3-6 MONTHs is the ask. You're going to be largely unrefined. Which means they can pay you below market rate. Vague or overly broad descriptions are confusing and discouraging. ➡ Support: Freshers need guidance, mentorship, and training, not a trial by fire. Invest in their growth and you’ll see amazing returns. So let’s ditch the superhero expectations and start valuing fresh talent for what they can truly bring to the table: fresh perspectives, creativity, and a passion to grow.
