Dinsmore’s Orlando office recently volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida as part of Dinsmore Day of Service. Attorneys and business professionals helped sort and package food that will soon fill the pantries and plates of children and families in the community. While going through food donations, our team of volunteers placed any rotten or expired products into a separate bin that was then donated to a local hog farm.

Happy Giving Tuesday!! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone on this platform who has liked, shared, or commented on our posts– it has genuinely made a huge difference in our growth this year. As the founder of this organization, I've witnessed firsthand the staggering disparity between food excess and scarcity in our country. Nearly 40% of our food supply goes to waste, while simultaneously, 44 million Americans face the challenge of food insecurity. At Sharing Excess, we're dedicated to solving this paradox by rescuing surplus food and delivering it to communities in need. Our mission is not just about providing food; it's about revolutionizing food sharing to overcome the logistical barriers that often hinder food rescue and redistribution. I know you’re probably being bombarded with Giving Tuesday requests from many amazing organizations– but we need your support. I hope that our work stands out as being a highly impactful use of your donations today, as we are able to provide 160 meals for every $10 donated. Your contributions will enable us cover the costs of transportation and allow us to partner with grocery stores, wholesalers, and farmers, ensuring that perfectly good food reaches those who need it most, rather than ending up in landfills. Every donation up to $10,000 is matched today thanks to a generous donor. No worries at all if you can't donate, even sharing this post helps a ton. Much love and thank you all for your continued support and generosity. Here's the link to donate: https://lnkd.in/gqPKHQAQ #GivingTuesday #EndHunger #FoodRescue #Nonprofit #SharingExcess
44 million Americans will experience food insecurity this holiday season; meanwhile, 38% of our nation’s food supply is going to waste... This #GivingTuesday, help us rescue food and feed families facing food insecurity this winter - a $10 donation provides 160 meals. Now through November 30th, an anonymous donor will match all donations up to $10,000. We're already halfway to our goal - help us close the gap! #LetsFreeFood #SharingExcess

Community impact? The primary impact of this firms business model increases homelessness (currently at 10K+ homeless people on any given night) by gentrifying neighborhoods and forcing people who make less money out. "Global day for people and planet" yet the firm musters up 2 small bins of mostly dog and cat food...this doesn't even align. How about taking on projects that actually help to reduce the number of homeless people in the city instead of ones that are for the affluent population and for corporations to profit from. I hope other architecture studios in Toronto can learn from these fake displays of positive community impact. Many studios like this promote themselves as doing good but really at a foundational socio-economic level, they drive some of the biggest problems in the city. #thinkcritically #communityimpact #torontohomeless
Last week we supported Patcraft's Global Day for People and Planet initiative by filling two bins in our Annex with donations for several SPCA locations throughout the city. Great work team! #communityimpact

The holidays are the most important time of the year for fundraising when nonprofits raise the majority of their annual operating revenue. At Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, financial donations are down about 20% from where we were at this time last year, and the food bank is receiving donations from fewer donors. As we move into the final days of December, Second Harvest still needs to raise $4M by 12/31 to stay on track with its annual goal. A staggering 1 in 6 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties are turning to Second Harvest for support. That equates to Second Harvest providing food to an average of 500,000 people every month. Last month we served 520,000 people. It’s critical we make our goal and we are asking our community to donate what they can to help at https://shfb.online/hm2023 —every $1 can help provide enough food for 4 nutritious meals with our current match. #FeedingSiliconValley

Local toy drives have a special place in our hearts because they directly impact the lives of children in our very own community. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a world of difference to a child who may otherwise go without a gift during the holidays. By donating to local drives, you're not only spreading joy but also fostering a sense of togetherness and compassion. Where can you donate? Big Brothers and Big Sisters of RI: This local organization collects clothing and soft fabrics for children in need and distributes them to families within the community. You can donate to their bins at the VFW as well as the Cup Defenders on Wood St. Bristol Police Department: They often host a holiday toy drive, and donations can be dropped off at their headquarters. Local Churches: Many churches in Bristol actively participate in toy drives during the holiday season. Check with your local parish to see if they have a collection. Schools and Community Centers: Keep an eye out for toy collection bins at your local schools or community centers. If we can become aware of others and what the community is hosting this holiday season, one purchase, one drive, one thought can directly impact someone else this holiday season for the better. This is your Daily Dose of the day! #MondayMotivation #Donations #HolidaySeason #BristolRI #RhodeIsland #DailyDoseofBristolRI

Can you help Abbey People support those in need?
We are always keen to receive donations so if you think you can help then please take a look at the poster for a list of thing that we always need. You can deliver donations to the Food Hub on the days we are open, ideally two hours before opening (whilst we set up).
