Give us a thumbs-up (like) if you're attending the #tmforum #DTW24 event at the Bella Centre in Copenhagen next week (on 18-20 June). At previous events, I'd always prioritised listening to talks and having ad-hoc discussions with attendees / vendors. Whilst incredibly informative, there was never any tangible business benefit in terms of projects, etc arising from any previous event. At MWC23 I thought I'd try something a bit different. I focused on pre-booked meetings instead, getting to 54 meetings across 4 days, working in 30 min increments. I also entered MWC23 with a vastly different mindset. Instead of hoping to find projects, the dual objectives were to: 1) Meet people face to face, many whom I'd already known online, often for many years without meeting in person 2) To attempt to add value to the people I was meeting, often by way of introductions connecting two or more companies together where I could see a potential benefit The interesting thing was that this approach actually proved to be more successful from a business perspective too. The law of reciprocity seemed to be at play. Add value for others and value comes back to you, often in indirect and/or unexpected ways. So, being unable to make it to Copenhagen this year rules me out from objective #1.
