Great to see our friends Accenture continuing to research the business case for disability inclusion... The key findings from their latest report are that those organisations which innovate around disability inclusion make 1.6 times more revenue, 2.6 times more net income, 2x more economic profit and are 25% more productive versus competitors. The report also reveals that 76% of employees did not fully disclose their condition at work and only 4.6% of employees self-identify their disability status with employers. It's clear that disabled people remain reticent to come forward and disclose their disability, illness and/or condition(s). The key criteria being that which is outlined in the Disability Equality Index. Disability History Month continues . . . As well as looking back at insightful content from the Untapped archive - we also want to share new insight on the topic of disability inclusion. This recent Forbes article covers some "hot-off-the-press" research from Accenture about the business case for disability inclusion. Although it skews towards the US market, parallels can be drawn for other regions. It's clear that - whilst great strides are being made by some organisations - not all business leaders "get it" and there's a great deal more work to be done, particularly in certain sectors.
